The Pump Plant Maintenance Operator I position, based at the Hinds Pumping Plant, is an intermediate-level role responsible for carrying out operational activities at the desert pumping plants. Key duties include implementing water flow adjustments, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and assisting with maintenance tasks. Additional responsibilities involve operating, maintaining, and testing domestic water systems within both the pumping facilities and associated residential areas. The position also performs water quality analyses for distribution and drinking water systems, supports system shutdowns, and conducts high voltage switching. Further duties include starting and stopping main pumping units and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all assigned systems. DEFINITION Under general direction, the Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible to operate, monitor, and inspect the Water Treatment Plant and ancillary facilities. This classification is assigned to the Turlock City Employees Association bargaining unit for labor relations purposes and is subject to overtime assignments. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED General supervision is provided by the Water Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor and may receive technical direction from the Senior Water Treatment Plant Operator.
