About the Role
We are seeking a PlantOperator to join a large-scale power generation facility in Queens, NY. In this essential position, you'll be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant systems and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production. Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor power plant systems and components during assigned shifts.
Perform plant rounds, collect data, and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal operations.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance such as valve adjustments, oil changes, and filter replacements.
Apply and remove Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures in accordance with safety standards.
Serve as fire watch and confined-space monitor when required.
Respond promptly to abnormal or emergency plant conditions.
Assist with start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting of plant systems.
Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in power generation, process plantoperations, or equivalent military experience.
Proven ability to start, operate, and shut down power plant equipment safely and efficiently.
Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, including familiarity with systems up to 345 kV.
Experience applying LOTO procedures and following strict plant safety and environmental protocols.
Proficiency in data collection and analysis to identify performance trends and improve reliability.

Drew University is seeking a Seasonal Weekend Boiler Operator for day and night shifts in the Facilities Department . This is a part-time, seasonal weekend position that will operate from the start to the end of the heating season, approximately October 1st to May 1st. Employee will be responsible for the continuous, reliable and safe operation of all University building hot water and low-pressure steam boiler plants and associated heating systems. Primary duties will include monitoring boiler performance, conduct routine inspections, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Additional duties may be assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain single and multiple fuel-fired water and/or fire tube boilers and associated auxiliary equipment at the central heating plant as well as all other building boiler plants.
Adjusts fuel feeds and the volume and velocity of draft and other firebox variables to achieve maximum combustion efficiency with changing load demands or variations in fuel quality and regularly observes and notes readings on gauges, meters, detectors, recorders, boiler water level indicators, and computer generated and analog displays to detect danger signals in operations.
Performs water testing and blowdowns as needed for all low-pressure steam boilers.
Maintains documentation regarding EPA, DEP, state, and local codes for compliance.
Completes campus boiler plant rounds in all required campus properties throughout the shift.
Makes logbook entries and conducts maintenance.
Check, record, and report fuel and water levels.
Keeps boiler and machine rooms safe and clean.
Inspects to ensure proper operation of and fills water softeners around campus.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
5-10 years of experience in boiler operations.
New Jersey Black Seal low-pressure boiler operator license.
Valid US Driver's License is required; able to drive an automobile, van, light truck, or utility vehicle.
Familiar with building automation systems preferred.
Able to communicate through computer email, telephone, two-way radio systems, and cell phone.
Normal mobility to move around campus and campus buildings.
Able to bend, stoop, twist, climb up and down ladders.
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including up and down stairs.
Strong English written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Subject to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
Able to understand plans, design specifications, and manufacturer's instructions.
Competency in using tools and operating equipment.
Skills:

What You'll Be Doing
Operates and monitors the Hospital's Power Plant with regard to essential systems which provide Heating, Air Conditioning, and Steam. Maintains an efficient environment by measuring Fuel Levels. Performing sample analysis and safety testing. Uses specialized knowledge to determine preventive maintenance and equipment service needs. Maintains log and records as required.
What We're Looking For
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience as industrial boiler operator.

POSITION PURPOSE The Chemical Operator will monitor and operate equipment and facilities, including field equipment, ensuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. Additional responsibilities include always maintaining safety standards and initiating and following emergency procedures when necessary. The Operator will perform basic maintenance repair and upkeep on area equipment. Job tasks are performed in control room, lab areas, and throughout various operation areas of the site.
The site operates a process safety management-covered process that produces sulfuric acid in multiple concentrations. Product is shipped in rail cars, tank trucks and portable totes.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):
Start up and shut down (normal and emergency) plant systems and components.
Operate, monitor and control plant systems; visually inspect, monitor equipment and process conditions.
Prepares equipment for maintenance work by isolating, clearing and locking out.
Reviews, follows and, if qualified, revises detailed process operating procedures, maintenance procedures and safety procedures.
Troubleshoots equipment to restore to normal operation.
Analyzes charts and logs to identify potential or actual problems.
Identifies system problems to stabilize plant to normal conditions.
Trains new operators in the area, reinforcing safety and environmental principles.

Qualifications
In order to be qualified for this role, the following is required:
High School Diploma/GED equivalent
Minimum of 2 years' experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Ability to navigate the tools of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, etc.) and learn new computer systems and software applications

Summary
The Auxiliary Operator at Four Corners Power Plant supports the safe, efficient and cost-effective production of electric energy by operating and monitoring turbines, generators, scrubbers, bag houses, and plant auxiliary equipment. The work schedule for this position is a 12-hour rotating shift as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement; LOMA dated December 8, 2015.

Major Accountabilities
- Reads work orders, technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams related to the work assignment. Writes/reviews work scope and hazard/risk assessment of the work assignment.
- Knowledge of APM and safety standards related to auxiliary operator work such as personal protective equipment, hazardous material handling, asbestos containing material (ACM) awareness, MSDS, confined space entry, company LOTO procedures, ladder safety, arc flash protection, and all material contained in the accident prevention manual.
- Take field readings from charts, meters, and gauges at established intervals to ensure proper and efficient operation of the plant.
- Diagnose and correct equipment, system problems and other abnormal operating conditions by monitoring and inspecting power plant equipment.
- Communicate with Control Operator on any abnormal conditions. Coordinate any field action with the Control Operator.
- Reports any need for equipment repair.
- Under the direction of the Control Operator, manipulate field controls on all power plant auxiliary equipment. This includes the following systems such as boilers, turbines, water, fuel, air, ash handling, pollution control systems, auxiliary power etc. The operation of pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, feed water heaters, filters, chemical injection equipment, scrubbers, ZLDs, bag houses etc.
- Open and close valves, dampers, switches, and breakers in the appropriate sequence following operating procedures to shut down and start up equipment.
- Isolate equipment from all energy sources to remove, inspect or maintain it by identifying the proper equipment and corresponding valves, breakers, switches. Hang LOTO tags at boundary points following the company LOTO procedure to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
- Inspect records and logbook entries, and communicate with other plant personnel, in order to assess equipment operating status.
- Clean and ensure the proper lubrication of equipment such as generators, turbines, pumps, fans, conveyors, and compressors in order to prevent equipment failure or deterioration. Checks oil levels, lubricates, joints, adjust belts and tensioners, replace filters, tighten gland and pipe joints for preventative maintenance.
- Record and compile operational data, completing and maintaining forms, logs, and reports.
- Collect water and oil samples for laboratory analysis.
- Perform laboratory analysis on water samples. At Cholla the Water Analyst Position will be required to qualify as an AO on one of the AO areas.
- Reset tripped electric relays in coordination with the Control Operator following arc flash protection procedures.
- Clear obstructions in filters and equipment by removing debris and back flushing such as with heat exchangers.
- Analyze field problems such as hot bearings, plugged filters, low oil, clogged heat exchangers, bottom ash build up, loss of coal flow, lime flow drop off, etc. and take appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems.
- Respond to emergencies such as fires, hazardous material spills and excess water spills.
- Communicate with Supervisor, Operations Crew Leader and peers by radio, telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person to provide and receive information-particularly at shift turnover.
- Identify and report to the Control Operator all items that have an adverse impact on unit and/or equipment efficiency and reliability.

Drew University is seeking a Seasonal Weekend Boiler Operator for day and night shifts in the Facilities Department. This is a part-time, seasonal weekend position that will operate from the start to the end of the heating season, approximately October 1st to May 1st. Employee will be responsible for the continuous, reliable and safe operation of all University building hot water and low-pressure steam boiler plants and associated heating systems. Primary duties will include monitoring boiler performance, conduct routine inspections, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Additional duties may be assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain single and multiple fuel-fired water and/or fire tube boilers and associated auxiliary equipment at the central heating plant as well as all other building boiler plants.
Adjusts fuel feeds and the volume and velocity of draft and other firebox variables to achieve maximum combustion efficiency with changing load demands or variations in fuel quality and regularly observes and notes readings on gauges, meters, detectors, recorders, boiler water level indicators, and computer generated and analog displays to detect danger signals in operations.
Performs water testing and blowdowns as needed for all low-pressure steam boilers.
Maintains documentation regarding EPA, DEP, state, and local codes for compliance.
Completes campus boiler plant rounds in all required campus properties throughout the shift.
Makes logbook entries and conducts maintenance.
Check, record, and report fuel and water levels.
Keeps boiler and machine rooms safe and clean.
Inspects to ensure proper operation of and fills water softeners around campus.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
5-10 years of experience in boiler operations.
New Jersey Black Seal low-pressure boiler operator license.
Valid US Driver's License is required; able to drive an automobile, van, light truck, or utility vehicle.
Familiar with building automation systems preferred.
Able to communicate through computer email, telephone, two-way radio systems, and cell phone.
Normal mobility to move around campus and campus buildings.
Able to bend, stoop, twist, climb up and down ladders.
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including up and down stairs.
Strong English written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Subject to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
Able to understand plans, design specifications, and manufacturer's instructions.
Competency in using tools and operating equipment.
Skills:
Knowledge of safe operating procedures, such as Lock Out / Tag Out.
