Key Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Hot Plant Operator include, but are not limited to: Hot Plant Management & Operation Operate the companys portable hot plants at various job locations throughout central and western Montana Manage and schedule raw material deliveries, and oversee other employees assigned to hot plants Work closely with the Paving Manager to determine the most effective pit layout, ensure the hot plant operations and asphalt mix design are meeting the expected specifications, and meet the supply demands of the paving crew in a timely manner. Operate the loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Serve as the contact for the MDT asphalt tester who collects samples of asphalt mix for laboratory testing to measure compliance with volumetrics specifications Serve as the key contact for the MDT Plant Inspector for asphalt mix performance and supply Train new employees on the safe and efficient operation of the hot plant. Your Role As the Water Treatment Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the on-site groundwater treatment facility. The facility consists of two groundwater recovery trenches where groundwater is pumped to a series of granular activated carbon treatment tanks, treated to appropriate standards, and discharged. You will ensure compliance with all relevant federal, State, and municipal regulations, and support ongoing remediation efforts. The successful applicant will play an important role in maintaining the site, analyzing site conditions and coordinating with Tetra Tech, DEQ, EPA, and other interested parties. The ideal candidate is expected to reside in Butte. The typical work week will be 40 hours per week, and the schedule is somewhat flexible. The operator is on-call 24-7 unless the backup operator has been scheduled. If there are issues at the plant the operator is expected to work until the issues are resolved, which may exceed 40 hours in a week. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Operate, monitor, and maintain the water treatment plant and associated infrastructure. Operate equipment in accordance with regulatory and safety standards. * Collect and submit water samples to a laboratory, record instantaneous water quality data, maintain logs of all operations, and prepare all necessary reports documents operations. * Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, filters, piping and instrumentation. * Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to ensure optimal plant performance. * Maintain accurate records of carbon and chemical usage, process adjustments, and maintenance activities. * Ensure compliance with all applicable permits, regulations, and site-specific requirements. * Coordinate with Tetra Tech project managers, DEQ representatives, and subcontractors as needed. * Participate in site safety meetings and adhere to all health and safety protocols. * Support environmental sampling and monitoring activities as required. * Monitor the site property and maintain/repair any items that require it. * Keeping the treatment plant and property organized, maintained, and clean. * Attending regular meetings with technical support staff and the client. * Coordinate with utility workers and other contractors to provide access to the site. * Daily site inspections and property maintenance and management. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in water or wastewater treatment plant operations, preferably in an environmental remediation project. Pumping equipment includes centrifugal pumps, electric motors, submersible pumps, well pumps, and numerous diesel-powered emergency backup generators. The Site is staffed 2 to 8 hours per day, 365 days per year with a minimum of one operator onsite. Weekend and Holiday work is sometimes required. Occasional extended shifts are required due to planned and unplanned work conditions. Planned work conditions may include overseeing earthwork subcontractors, relocation of sludge piping, and completing critical repairs. Unplanned extended shifts may include plant outages and bad weather. The part-time Water Treatment Plant Operator 2 position requires working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions. Learn how to operate the boiler and obtain a Montana State 1st Class Boiler Engineer license within 1 1/2 years. Work with a team of boiler operators to maintenance boiler operations; including but not limited to operation of the truck dump, fuel handling equipment (rolling stock)t, boiler operation and maintenance. Work with others including supervisor and other plant personnel. Perform maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, equipment inspection and preventative maintenance (including rolling stock), plumbing, equipment repairs, keeping boiler area clean, running water tests, and conducting water and chemistry treatments. Systems within the treatment plant include a desktop computer (Human Machine Interface), variety of pumps, tank mixers, and clarifiers. Pumping equipment includes centrifugal pumps, electric motors, submersible pumps, well pumps, and numerous diesel-powered emergency backup generators. The Site is staffed 2 to 8 hours per day, 365 days per year with a minimum of one operator onsite. Weekend and holiday work is sometimes required. Occasional extended shifts are required due to planned and unplanned work conditions. Planned work conditions may include overseeing earthwork subcontractors, relocation of sludge piping, and completing critical repairs. Unplanned extended shifts may include plant outages and bad weather. The part-time Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 position requires working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
