What is the role of the Asphalt Plant Division? The Asphalt Plant Division is in the Production Group. At each facility, we unload granite stone, crush recycled asphalt, crush concrete, and produce asphalt.
What is an Asphalt Plant Operator (APO)? This person gets to assist in all ground operations at the plant, crusher, and unloading facility. .
What you will get to do:
Monitor material piles and communicate with Plant leadership of material levels
Grease entire plant and check oil levels of machines and equipment
Unload liquid material, lime, and other aggregate as needed
Run the water truck as required
Keep plant areas (yard, tower, etc.) clean and organized
Assist in keeping aggregate material piles clean and organized
Change out bad rollers
Help with other plant facility tasks as required

Job Responsibilities: The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for the Boiler Operator in the Facilities and Engineering Department. The candidates duties will include, but not limited to: Responsible for proper operation of the Central Boiler Plant; maintains operational and maintenance records of the Boiler Plants, Main Boilers, Auxiliary Boilers, and Main and Auxiliary Steam distribution systems and associated equipment; must be able to work and support work on rotating shifts including, nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies supervising the Central Boiler Plant in proper operation, maintenance and repair of associated steam producing equipment. The candidate will also be responsible for the following:
* Assists in maintaining maintenance records, equipment certification records, water chemistry and chemical inventory records
* Assists in maintaining all DEHC records, including fuel records for the Boilers and Emergency Diesel Generator
* Responsible for operation, maintenance, repair and testing of the Emergency Diesel and auxiliary equipment including fuel oil pump, fuel oil coolers and cooling systems.
* Responsible for proper electrical distribution of emergency power to the campus.
* Responsible for complying with all DHEC requirements and maintaining all operational data for DHEC reports and inspections.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma and four(4) years' experience in the related boiler trades area. Work conditions subject to 24 hour emergency callout on evenings, weekends, and holidays, including extreme weather and climatic conditions of humidity, heat and cold. Must be capable of: repetitively lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet; working off roofs, scaffolds, ladders and platforms at high elevations up to 100 feet off of the ground.

Chemical Plant Operator - North Charleston Plant
As a Chemical Plant Operator at the North Charleston Plant you will have the opportunity to join a highly engaged team that takes pride in working safely and producing chemicals that are used to enhance the world around us such as emulsifiers, rosin, tall oil fatty acid (TOFA), and lignin. The North Charleston Plant started operation in 1948, and today employees approximately 200 team members.
Starting wages for our hourly team members is $23.72 and increases to $25.35 after having completed a probationary period. + Conduct various tests of boilers and inspects for leaks, corrosion and pitting. Serve as "operator- in-charge" of the complete plant, on second and third shift.

Working alone or as a member of a team, and under the guidance of a Lead Operator, Supervisor or Manager, provides for the safe operation of wastewater facilities in an assigned area(s) in such a manner as to support a Supervisor or other Operators in complying with the requirements for distributing wastewater treatment and collection as established by the company and state and federal governmental regulatory agencies. Provides guidance and training to Operators and, as necessary, to less senior Operators and Plant Utility Workers assigned as members of the team.
Key Accountabilities
Operates, and performs routine duties and care of a wide variety of specialized equipment and apparatus in a plant/treatment facility and/or collection system including pumps, motors, chlorinators, chemical preparation, and feeding; physical, chemical, and biological wastewater treatment processes; control equipment and monitoring equipment.
Regulates the flow of wastewater and sludge through the treatment processes.
Maintains records of operations; submits routine reports as assigned.
Inspects all mechanical equipment for proper operation.
Performs normal lubrication, adjustments, seal packing, minor maintenance, and repairs as necessary.
Performs related field and laboratory tests as necessary to monitor and control the facilities.
Makes necessary adjustments to equipment, processes, and chemical feeders, as test results may indicate or as instructed by the Lead Operator/Supervisor.
Responds to customer service calls.
May clear clogs and/or make repairs to sewer mains.
May train other employees in the operation and care of facilities including maintenance, repairs, laboratory work, and safety, as required.
May perform duties as Chief/Lead Operator as needed.
May perform duties as Collection System Specialist as needed.
Conducts safety inspections and follows safety rules and procedures.
Communicate effectively with other operators and supervisors.
Attends and participates in operational and safety training programs as directed by management.
Always interacts with fellow employees and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Position is subject to 24 hour call-out and overtime.

* Operates and maintains the water/wastewater treatment facilities as required by city, state, and federal guidelines;

* Adjusts chemical treatment to ensure water quality standards are met.
* Assists with water and wastewater line repairs, new line installation, and other work as directed.

* Respond to and investigate customer service calls. Complete customer service work orders, updates, and maintains activity with required documentation, and closes work orders in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
* Performs routine tests on water treatment facilities, including tests related to treatment process, chemicals, pumps, motors, and routine water quality sampling. Collect and analyze appropriate readings of gauges and meters;
* Conducts routine testing, monitoring, and maintenance of production wells, water/wastewater unit processes, and basic laboratory analyses.
* Performs and documents the treatment process and maintenance of treatment facility equipment.
* Documents plant performance, including daily flow, well meter readings, and chemical dosage and usage.
* Other duties assigned.
