He/she will not leave this place of duty, except when properly relieved for meals or breaks, and will not allow unauthorized personnel to enter the room. He/she is primarily responsible for the operation of electrically functioning doors, security alarms for each housing area. He/she will serve as a central point communication liaison in the event of an emergency in an area. The Operations Control Room Operator (CRO) reports directly to the assigned Operations Corporal, who in turn reports directly to the Operations Sergeant and acting Shift Commander. [NOTE]: These examples are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: A. Day-to-day duties: Receive inmate head counts from the Housing Deputy and verify the total count with Booking Sergeant and/or designee. Be responsible for the operations of the housing unit security gates and control room security doors. The Operations Control Control Room Operator (CRO) will ensure that only authorized personnel enter or exit a housing unit. Check the operations of the intercom/public address system, security doors, cell and housing unit lighting, electronic doors, fire alarm system, and the light circuit panel. Any discrepancies will be recorded on a maintenance work order. Building discrepancies are noted on Daily Inspection Report. Verify, inspect and enter into the Jail Management System (JMS,) all security equipment on post: handcuffs, shackles, 911 tools, air packs, fire extinguisher, flashlight, keys, first-aid kit, personal protection kit, and nail clippers. Maintain communication through intercom, telephone, and radio with the housing units to advise the housing deputies of necessary inmate movement or other activities affecting the housing unit. Conduct visual checks on inmates through control room windows. Maintain accurate count sheets. Counts will be transmitted to the Booking Deputy at the scheduled count times for each shift and when requested. Controls lighting and Guardian RFI checks. Responsible for maintaining control room cleanliness. B. Maintaining Logs/Reports, etc.: Verify list of court and transporting inmates. Notify concerned housing unit deputy. Maintain proper key control/accountability when issuing keys to janitor's closet, exam room, emergency keys, multi-purpose room, laundry room and supply room. Maintain Pod Activity Notes entering occurrences of routine and unusual nature in the JMS. C. Other Administrative Duties Sort and distribute all paperwork ensuring appropriate delivery to affected areas. Coordinate visiting, recreation, commissary, phone calls, official visits and movement of inmates, staff and visitors. The midnight shift will deliver outgoing mail to the mail room by 0430 hours daily. Pass incoming mail to housing deputies for distribution to inmates. Make random checks on housing deputies' well-being. QUALIFICATIONS: A. Training and Experience High school diploma or GED Computer Skills Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. B. POSITION SUMMARY: The Production Operator is responsible for learning and operating the Lowell granular plant, drying and milling control room systems. This position is responsible for operating the Lowell minerals plants to maintain quality, efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance through the management of plant systems by monitoring and adjusting crushers/mills, feeders, gates, screens, and conveyors to maximize efficient operation, reduce downtime, and minimize issues that could occur from break downs and plug ups. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Production Support: * Ensure adequate feed rate of stone into the crushing, milling, and drying process. * Control and monitor adequate fuel consumption (natural gas) to meet production demands by the most efficient means while maintaining environmental compliance. * Monitor trends on various parameters for multiple pieces of equipment to ensure the equipment is operated within specified parameters. * Interpret charts and graphs and perform trend analysis for problem solving and efficient operation of the drying and milling systems. * Coordinate and communicate with various team members and departments. * Maintain daily operational reports on logs (soft and hard) with feed rate, amount of fuel, temperature, amperage, etc. which is listed each hour and given to the lead or manager, and the next operator at the end of each shift. * During shift changes, provide team members with a brief recap of their shift relating to production, equipment issues, safety concerns, and any other necessary topics as they relate to production and safety. * Report any potential operational or safety issue to a supervisor or manager immediately. * Effectively document, interpret and communicate analysis to maintain product quality. * Support investigations on customer complaints to find root causes and document findings. * Operate heavy mobile equipment as needed (skid steer, front-end loader and forklift). * Keep the control rooms and plant areas clean and clear of any safety hazards. * Must be trained to load bulk customer trucks as needed. * Perform light maintenance duties and troubleshooting as directed. * Remain on duty until the next scheduled operator arrives or a trained replacement is found. * Assist with tasks in other departments as needed. Responsibilities: Performs specialized field and technical work performing flushing tasks and associated job duties in monitoring, scheduling, and performing water quality related functions connected with the operation the water distribution system; works on flushing the water distribution system utilizing flushing equipment systems and flushing devices utilizing equipment and technologies that ensure drinking water and surface water discharge in compliance with federal and state regulations; checks and monitors the water quality in the distribution system; reviews reports and implements maintenance schedules for equipment to maintain proper water quality and flushing for an assigned area; reviews and monitors flushing equipment; initiates, prepares, and reviews work orders and administratively tracks work orders covering maintenance, repairs, and improvements; identifies, describes, schedules, and tracks flushing related plans and activities.• Makes independent water quality assessments on how to correct distribution system water quality issues through flushing and initiates or performs actions to implement corrections to resolve customer complaints; • Performs independent evaluations and makes recommendations for installations of Automatic Flushing Devices (AFD), and new blow-offs to maintain water quality; • Performs problem-solving, assembly, part replacement, and inventory activities related to automatic flushing devices (AFDs); • Reviews utility distribution system maps to determine water source and flow, proper valves, and adequate flushing locations to conduct specific flushing activities throughout the distribution system; • Determines the frequency of flushing activity in an area based upon acquired knowledge of a water distribution area and what is needed to maintain compliant water quality parameters; • Determines the operational status of valves, hydrants, and blow-offs, and has the knowledge and skills necessary to properly document the equipment and the repairs needed so that work orders can be generated for follow up repairs; • Operates water distribution system infrastructure including valves, hydrants, and blow-offs to utilize various flushing techniques to restore and maintain water quality; • Operates programmable equipment to control and adjust automatic flushing devices to ensure water quality compliance; • Maintains and operates monitoring equipment and assures applicable quality control/quality assurance procedures are followed; • Implements water distribution flushing plan and procedures using automated technologies for mapping, ARGIS, Collectors and other applications; • Prepares written or electronic reports covering customer complaints and generates service maps of the water distribution system, calculations, maintenance requirements, and water quality characteristics; • Applies basic water monitoring procedures while utilizing flushing techniques and operating valves, blow-offs, and fire hydrants in connection with distribution system maintenance and other flushing processes • Monitors, schedules, tracks, and ensures completion of planned or scheduled preventative/corrective maintenance flushing, projects, and tasks; • Collects and maintains technical water quality data and evaluates historical trends; • Generates field data records containing the flushing locations, infrastructure utilized, flow, and water loss; • Maintains inventory of parts and tools required for repairs; • Responds to customer complaints and offers answers to routine issues; • Performs other related job duties as assigned. POSITION SUMMARY: The Production Operator is responsible for learning and operating the Lowell granular plant, drying and milling control room systems. This position is responsible for operating the Lowell minerals plants to maintain quality, efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance through the management of plant systems by monitoring and adjusting crushers/mills, feeders, gates, screens, and conveyors to maximize efficient operation, reduce downtime, and minimize issues that could occur from break downs and plug ups. Some of the processing equipment is operated through a Human Machine Interface (HMI), i.e., computer screens and visuals. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Production Support: Ensure adequate feed rate of stone into the crushing, milling, and drying process. Control and monitor adequate fuel consumption (natural gas) to meet production demands by the most efficient means while maintaining environmental compliance. Monitor trends on various parameters for multiple pieces of equipment to ensure the equipment is operated within specified parameters. Interpret charts and graphs and perform trend analysis for problem solving and efficient operation of the drying and milling systems. Coordinate and communicate with various team members and departments. Maintain daily operational reports on logs (soft and hard) with feed rate, amount of fuel, temperature, amperage, etc. which is listed each hour and given to the lead or manager, and the next operator at the end of each shift. During shift changes, provide team members with a brief recap of their shift relating to production, equipment issues, safety concerns, and any other necessary topics as they relate to production and safety. Report any potential operational or safety issue to a supervisor or manager immediately. Effectively document, interpret and communicate analysis to maintain product quality. Support investigations on customer complaints to find root causes and document findings. Operate heavy mobile equipment as needed (skid steer, front-end loader and forklift). Keep the control rooms and plant areas clean and clear of any safety hazards. Must be trained to load bulk customer trucks as needed. Perform light maintenance duties and troubleshooting as directed. Remain on duty until the next scheduled operator arrives or a trained replacement is found. Assist with tasks in other departments as needed. Quality Control: Pull quality samples and run tests to ensure quality. Interpret in-process quality data and make system adjustments in the process as needed. Report quality non-conformances to the Lead and Production Manager. Effectively communicate quality findings with hourly workforce. Identify and lead quality improvement initiatives. Implement and sustain 5S in the laboratory. Train new employees as needed. Safety Attend scheduled safety meetings. Participate in Behavior Based Safety program. Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs. Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture. Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture. Complete periodic SQF training(s). Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees. Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.
