SHIFT: Friday - Tuesday 11:00PM - 7:00AM Monitor and operate combined heat and power plant and chilled water systems and connected equipment controls. Ensure plant operations are performed safely and efficiently; monitor and respond to changes in operating conditions to maintain continuous plant performance; as directed perform operations work order duties and routines. Role Summary: This position is for the Northern New Jersey Service Area and supports NSU's Operations. The role provides operations and maintenance support for the Northern NJ Service Area with the supervision by the NSA Supervisor. As an Operator in Training (OIT), you will gain hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities and be guided in obtaining your wastewater operator license. The OIT will work independently with guidance from senior operators and supervisors, learning how to manage time effectively while completing assigned tasks and ensuring client satisfaction. Duties & Responsibilities: Assist with critical testing of facility operations, such as pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., under the guidance of a licensed operator to monitor system conditions and maintain regulatory compliance. Learn to complete Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) in accordance with facility permits, with assistance from the operations team. Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes and pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc. (Further defined below in addendum A) Maintain accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations, equipment maintenance, and inspections. Assist in preparing monthly written operating reports based on facility operations and maintenance records for clients, employers, or regulatory agencies. Adhere to EH&S policies and processes and report any safety hazards, ensuring safe operations at all times. Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation as directed.
