The Control Room Operator observes all Puratos Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and SQF standards. This role operates all manual, automatic and or material handling equipment, safely and efficiently, while maintaining high quality standards that meet or exceed Puratos and customer requirements.
Shift: Monday-Friday, 2:30-11 PM (due to the nature of the role, weekend coverage is required periodically).
Primary Responsibilities
Must be able to safely work with automated industrial equipment, including operation, changeovers and basic maintenance
Report all food safety and quality issues to immediate Supervisor and / Quality technician. Immediately report any safety issues to the supervisor, maintenance or management
Responsible for the overall safety, quality, and efficiency of their work center
Comply with all company SOP's ( specific SOP's particular for Job), GMP's, and SQF (specify regulations)
Review and start production orders in MES and Simatic batch
Review, compare, update recipes in master control and MES
Communicate with maintenance about necessary improvement and regular p/m's, including WO submissions
Make manual adjustments to recipes that are incorrect and could cause hold product
Identify and support streamlining projects to improve production when applicable
Suggest adjustments to staff in order to gain maximum production, Identify production changes and suggest corrective actions
Support and direct all operators, ensure production is not impeded throughout the shift
Understand and report through OEE system, review and analyze major DT and propose solutions
Perform cleans on the line and inspections
Train new control room technicians, support all departments in the plant including any new expansion projects
Support and engage with all departments that are not meeting Quality and Efficiency KPIs by leading RCA efforts and continuous improvement projects
Create troubleshooting documentation and help train to any best practices
Consume and Close MES Production Orders
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years' experience in operations; High School Diploma/GED
Able to work OT and weekends
Proficient in SAP, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
Working knowledge of OEE principles
Knowledge of master scheduling practices and capacity analysis.
Experience in dealing with a unionized workforce
Excellent organizational, planning, influence, presentation, and follow-up skills
Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, standing, walking, stooping/twisting, kneeling, squatting, and reaching; constant visual acuity (near/far); occasionally lift up to 75 lbs

Sorts cylinders according to cylinder size and service, scrapes and paints cylinders, maintains organization in the cylinder yard, moves cylinders by forklift and handcart within the facility. Inspects and prepares high and low pressure cylinders for the filling process, performs required maintenance on cylinders. Load and unload common carrier trucks and Airgas shuttle trucks.
Sort and evaluate incoming gas cylinders.
Move cylinders to designated processing areas.

Paint and apply temperature coating to cylinders.

Install new cylinder valves in both low and high pressure cylinders.
Operate vacuum pumps, cylinder driers, cylinder bake out system, high pressure manifolds and associated equipment.

Maintain the cylinder yard in a clean and orderly manner. Stores cylinders in designated locations by service, cylinder size and valve type.
Perform valve and cylinder inventory.
Qualify to operate forklift and perform forklift inspection

Operate caustic scrubber to dispose of toxic gases.

Reporting to the Batching Supervisor, the Chemical Plant Operator is responsible for mixing/blending of
materials, operation of process equipment, and related duties. They will maintain production records
and ensures standard operating procedures are being followed. They will be required to comply with all
regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for mixing/blending of materials, paint matching, and operation of process equipment
• Monitor the performance of plant equipment and process conditions utilizing various
instruments, gauges and meters
• Unloading of rail cars and tank wagons
• Operate a forklift to stage materials
• Responsible for assuring the product is made correctly according to standard manufacturing orders
• Complete production reporting and quality control reporting in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
• Perform quality control analysis during the manufacturing steps, including drawing samples of
raw materials or from the process for laboratory testing
• Must follow all safety procedures, act in a safe manner at all times and have an understanding
and awareness of chemicals and their nature, hazards, safety and health issues etc. (TDS's, use of PPE etc.)
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
• 2+ years in a chemical plant environment is desired, Paint/Color matching experience a plus
• High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree or higher a plus.
• Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills
• Able to work overtime and nights as required
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities:
• Ability to work well under minimal supervision
• Attention to details, organization ability and ability to interact well with others.
• Must be able to operate basic hand tools
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing plant environment.
• Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as climbing, lifting
objects up to 50 lbs. and pushing/ pulling objects up to and including moving heavy drums
weighing 440+ lbs.
