What You'll Do
Essential Functions
Operates and maintains water and/or wastewater treatment equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental protection limits.
Monitors and samples well and groundwater upon entry to the system. Adjusts treatment levels when below-standard variances are detected. Samples water prior to exiting system.
Detects and reports atypical conditions, such as: damaged, malfunctioning and tampered meters, detecting and reporting leaks, high/low consumption, exposed wiring and other safety hazards.
Conducts ongoing repairs to equipment, or shuts down equipment for more extensive maintenance and repair, activating alternate equipment as needed. Requests services of outside maintenance vendor for major repairs and overhauls.
Activates pumps, valves and other processing equipment to move water through various treatment processes. Disposes of waste materials removed from water in line with Company procedures and government controls.
Assists Lead Operator with emergency procedures in the event of overflow or spill of chemicals or unpurified water. Follows safety protocol.
Adds chemicals to water by predetermined formula. Advises Lead Operator when minimum inventory levels of these materials have been reached.
Reads and interprets meters and gauges on central control panel, or at individual machines or stages in the treatment process. Adjusts controls as needed. Retrieves computer reports on treatment process.
Prepares reports and maintains logs on meter readings, tests, chemical and equipment usage, and all other recordkeeping requirements; maintains various Company records and other reports as required by the state.
Back-washes filters and basins; handles chlorine in a safe, effective manner; assures proper working order of chlorine-related equipment.
Cleans and maintains treatment plant, pumping stations and wells; prepares and paints equipment, walls and floors.
Ensures regulatory compliance and adherence to Company policies and standards.
Maintains a safe working environment and reports safety concerns to Area Manager.
Constant, independent travel daily between worksites on Company time.
Must work On-Call in rotation as scheduled; responds to emergency situations as required.
Completes facility and vehicle inspections, along with related follow-up.
Installs and reads water meters.
Acts as liaison between customers and customer service; provides on-site customer communication.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless utility service.
Ensures that facilities and grounds are kept clean and orderly and comply with Company standards.

General Description
An Asphalt Plant Operator is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more fully, below. An Asphalt Plant Operator typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the work flow dictates.
Key Duties
Responsible for start-up and operation of hot mix asphalt mixing plants. Process involves placing raw aggregate and liquid asphalt materials through the mixing drum to be stored in silos until ready for load-out on trucks for delivery to job sites.

General Description. A Front End Loader is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Loader. This position operates loaders equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop which is used to transport aggregate or other materials, feed hopers or chutes, and/or stick pile aggregates.
Key Duties
* Operates straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers, or chutes, and/or stockpile aggregates.
* Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader.
* Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front-end loader forward to force bucket into bulk material.
* Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump Material.
* Performs routine maintenance on loader, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
* Operate the equipment over rocky or uneven land safely. Drive smoothly under harsh weather conditions.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
* General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. * Education and Experience. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Front End Loader Operator. * Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
* Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
* Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
* Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
* The Operator must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
* The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., moving equipment, backing alarms, or other alarms, instructions/directions from supervisor and/or spotter).
* Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Front End Loader Operator encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
* Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
* Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.

Responsible for monitoring the operations of the Complex Water Treatment Plants Seminole County's owns and operates. Also monitors Lift Stations, Wastewater Treatment Facilities and Re-use Treatment Facilities. Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Maintains remote facility operations and security oversight via SCADA operations, video camera systems, and intrusion alarm systems. Records operational failures for the Maintenance Department or other agencies as may be required. Coordinate security response with Sheriff's Office, Fire Department or other agencies, as may be required.
Coordinates with other Departments, vendors, and contractors for access to secure work sites.
Performs daily operational procedures, laboratory and field analyses, and routine calibrations and maintenance in order to maintain optimal treatment process.
Responsible for the treatment process control, and all process chemicals. Responsible for adherence to proper safety standards and procedures. Responsible for maintaining all safety equipment and related records.
Assist in maintaining and repairing all chemical systems including hypochlorite feed systems, fluoride feed systems, dosing pumps, and all associated piping and fittings.
Assist with maintaining, preparing, and submitting all required Daily Plant Logs, Equipment Data Logs, Process Control records, and Monthly Operating Reports. Collects and submits data as required to assist with Department operations, such as budget preparation and purchasing planning.
Trains other staff members as required. Coordinates with other Departments, vendors, and contractors to accomplish assigned tasks. Provides keen oversight and progress status reports on such assigned tasks and projects.
Maintain State-mandated professional qualifications by seeking out and completing approved C.E.U. courses.
Performs after-hours and on-call duties. Responds to emergencies and other callouts as directed. Responds to customer complaints and concerns. Maintains all Water Quality Complaint documentation.
Maintain the water plant treatment system. Collects mandated system samples. Develops, maintains and modifies as necessary, system flushing programs.

Considerable hands-on knowledge of pump operations and maintenance, well field operations, chlorination equipment operation and maintenance, on-line analytical meter calibration, and operation and calibration of laboratory and field analytical equipment.
Must have normal color vision.

Must meet all qualifications required to use a respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus.
