Job Purpose
The Plant Operator works independently and with other plant personnel to meet target quality and yield of rendered UCO from raw UCO in stakes and manages sludge and solids dispatch and disposal. This team member performs safely and in a manner that optimizes plant and equipment efficiencies while minimizing energy consumption and operating costs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Housekeeping:
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Performs routine and consistently assigned housekeeping tasks in the plant and laboratory areas.
Quality Testing & Assurance:
• Performs in-process quality testing to ensure process quality conformance.
• Conducts finished product testing for input into Certificates of Analysis (COA).
• Minimizes process non-conformances via adherence to best practices, established protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ancillary Functions:
• Troubleshoots and performs minor maintenance as necessary and as qualified as well as scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
• Maintains required environmental standards and completes regular observation and reporting documentation.
• Operates, monitors troubleshoots, and maintains utility systems such as heaters, and air compressors as needed.
Shipping and Receiving:
• Performs load-out of finished products and by-products while adhering to set sample retention procedures.
• Performs load-in of raw UCO while ensuring sufficient space is available for incoming trucks and no overflows occur.
Documentation and Communication:
• Production - Completes all required data on processing, inventory and compliance reports and notes any unusual characteristics during the process.
• Quality Control - Records all necessary product, and chemical testing information.
• Shipping and Receiving - Fills in all required data on BOLs, meter tickets, and sample tags.
• Plant status - Completes all logs and reports about issues during shift.
• Safety and common sense - Reports anything unsafe or out of the ordinary to the next shift.
Ability to Follow Instructions:
• Consistently follows all written SOPs and verbal and written instructions.
• Ensures complete knowledge of written SOPs.
• Ensures complete understanding of written and verbal instructions.
Accuracy and Awareness:
• Minimizes errors via complete understanding of all job requirements and proper time and workflow management and remains aware of the process at all times.
• Minimizes fuel losses via proper work practices and undivided attention to the process.
• Avoids spills of any kind.
• Minimizes plant downtime by paying complete attention to the process and fully optimizing all process steps.
Troubleshooting:
• Minimizes night calls by developing acute troubleshooting ability.
• Resolves problems independently.
• Arrives at accurate assessments of process issues and avoids misdiagnosis of the problem.
• Maintains proper communication during troubleshooting activities to identify the best and most expedient resolution.
Daily Job Duties:
1. Inspects, monitors, troubleshoots, performs tests and documents plant processes by reading plant equipment gauges, dials, graphs, online analyzers, computer screens, meters, SCADA systems, and other instrumentation.
2. Operates waste vegetable oil filtration equipment, including augers, screeners, and decanting system.
3. Maintains, compiles, and updates plant operations logs and reports; performs and records mathematical calculations related to plant operational activities.
4. Operates, cleans, and recharges filter screens.
5. Uses any/all transfer pumps and hoses and connectors to move materials to desired locations within the plant.
6. Operates vacuum trucks and pumps when needed.
7. Safely operates fork trucks.
8. Performs load-in / load-out duties when required.
9. Performs general housekeeping duties when requested or necessary.
10. Performs equipment maintenance when needed if qualified.
Requirements:
Qualifications
• 2+ years relevant verifiable heavy industrial processing work experience.
• 1 + years data and documentation experience.
• Must have general understanding of industrial processing equipment.
• Must have strong multitasking abilities.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Proficient at basic math.
• Able to learn and retain daily duty changes.
• Able to operate a fork truck.
• Valid driver's license and able to operate manual transmission vehicles.
Working Conditions
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
• The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
• The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.

What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Plant Operation. Load hot mix asphalt into haul trucks. Manufacture various asphalt products according to mix design and customer jobsite specifications. Operate plant equipment to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins. Control inventory of materials.
Inspect Equipment, Structures, and Material. Perform daily inspections of the auxiliary equipment and document items in need of repair or service. Maintain stationary hot mix asphalt equipment, including but not limited to conveyors, shakers, drives, and screws. Diagnose problems and perform mechanical repair and maintenance.
Monitor Processes and Materials. Monitor and review plant equipment systems to ensure continuous flow of materials and maintain certified products. Remove clogged materials when applicable.
Document and Record Information. Assist plant management with record keeping and daily production schedules for submitting reports on production and maintenance. Read and write delivery tickets to determine the mix design called for each load. Issue delivery tickets to customers.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Skills You'll Need:
Experience. Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
Knowledge of Best Practices. A basic knowledge of the asphalt or construction industry is preferred.
Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, work outside in all types of weather conditions, and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Position Summary
We are hiring for a Plant Operator to work in our Renewable Power Plant. This position reports to a Lead Plant Operator and is located in San Diego, CA The Plant Operator is responsible for the direction of all day-to-day activities in a reciprocating engine landfill gas power generation facility. The goals of this position are to maximize production and minimize downtime with the utmost regard to safety, cleanliness, and environmental compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Operate, monitor, and maintain large reciprocating gas engines (Caterpillar 3500 series gensets) and associated auxiliary equipment.
* Maintain detailed records on production data, equipment operational hours, service schedules and equipment outages.
* Check all operating equipment daily including flow meters, gas chromatographs, fluid levels, pressure and temperature readings, and unusual noises to correct conditions before failure occurs.
* Perform all maintenance and repairs on the operating equipment including oil and filter changes, replacement and repair of valves, blowers, compressors, and other plant equipment, as necessary. Participate in preventative maintenance outages and overhauls.
* Maintain a high level of cleanliness in and around the plant. Keep oil from accumulating on the unit skids, floors, and soil around the plant. Keep weeds and shrubs cleaned from the plant yard and perimeter fence. Keep equipment and floors looking as presentable as possible.
* Keep all on-site parts and supplies stocked and well organized. Maintain plant inventory.
* Respond to call outs in a timely manner. Identify and correct the cause of the call out. If the problem cannot be corrected or diagnosed, it is the responsibility of the operator to contact the area manager to get the help required to fix the situation.
* Operate the plant with a clear focus on safety. Clean up spills immediately. Make sure all lighting systems are fully functional; no slip or trip hazards are consistently present; and no electrical or mechanical hazards go on for long periods of time without attention. Affirm that all plant visitors, mechanics, and outside contractors are following safe work practices.
* Works with internal resources to resolve problems.
* Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, regulatory compliance, and safety requirements.
* Clearly communicate all material/personnel issues with the area managers.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
* High school diploma/ GED equivalent
* Diesel/large reciprocating engines operation and maintenance experience is required.
* Must possess good mechanical skills.
* Basic electrical knowledge is preferred.
* General troubleshooting abilities.
* Skilled in recordkeeping and logging.

* Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
* Must be self-motivated and perform most tasks with little or no supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Order, receive, handle and store chemicals for cleaning, circuit imaging, and plating printed circuit boards.
* Perform chemical additions to plating and imaging process tanks.
* Keep accurate records of daily activities.
* Strictly follow safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
* Responsible for maintaining the standards of quality effluent as prescribed by the City of San Diego Metropolitan Industrial Waste Program (MIWP).
* Operate the facility wastewater pretreatment system.
* Responsible for chemical inventory for the facility
* Control pH and heavy metal content as required by the MIWP permit.
* Properly label and store waste as required by OSHA and EPA. Once initial training and certification is completed, will transfer hazardous waste to disposal facilities in accordance with DOT requirements.
* Perform routine maintenance tasks as required to assure proper working conditions of the waste treatment system and the manufacturing process tanks.
* Interface and assist City, State and Federal Inspectors when on site.

Key Responsibilities
Perform water extraction, structural drying, and dehumidification
Demolition of water-damaged materials (drywall, flooring, insulation)
Content cleaning, pack-out services, and debris removal
Operate restoration equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, moisture meters)
Vehicle maintenance and equipment care
Job site cleanup and warehouse organization
Inventory management and supply loading
Follow safety protocols and OSHA standards
Provide customer service with empathy during crisis situations
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Physical fitness - ability to lift 50+ lbs (fitness test required)
Background check clearance (FBI)
Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
Willingness to work overtime and flexible scheduling
Preferred Experience:
Construction experience or trades background

Demolition or renovation experience
