Control Room Operator The Control Room Operator position will be responsible for all production, blending, loading, and unloading of all plant chemicals. Plant operator will need to understand and operate all plant processes and procedures while keeping a safe and clean working environment. Job Summary The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing chemical manufacturing processes using distributed control systems (DCS) and related automation platforms. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations while coordinating closely with field operators, engineering, and maintenance teams. While the position is primarily based in the control room, regular hands-on involvement in plant operations is expected, including time spent in process areas while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Candidates may qualify through prior control room/industrial operations experience or through a chemistry-based background with applicable process knowledge. Responsible for operating and maintaining machinery used in the process of can manufacturing. Play a crucial role in ensuring that cans are properly cleaned to remove contaminants and residues from cans according to the specifications and quality standards set by the company before they proceed to the next manufacturing stages. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operate washer following standard operating procedures (SOPs) for loading, unloading, and operation. Monitor equipment to ensure smooth and continuous operation, reporting any issues to the supervisor. Inspect cans before and after washing to maintain cleanliness and quality standards. Operate and monitor wastewater equipment including equalization tanks, Y-strainers, DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation), and J-Press for sludge removal. Perform daily and weekly analytical tests on wastewater to ensure proper operation and chemistry. Adjust concentration of DAF chemistries under supervision to comply with wastewater regulations. Conduct monthly PCR sampling of wastewater and maintain detailed records. Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance on wastewater and RO water systems, including calibrations, cleaning, and checking equipment. Inspect cans and wastewater quality to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulations. Record data from wastewater and production processes for continuous improvement projects. The operator is responsible for the set up and tear down, operation, maintenance and record keeping of portable concrete batch plants. In addition to operating the plant, the operator will assist with the coordination of daily plant activities such as scheduling truck drivers and ordering plant materials. Operates concrete plant to batch materials used in Highway and bridge construction. Manages controls on control board to heat, dry, weigh and mix aggregate, cement, and water to produce concrete that conforms to processing specifications. May require the ability to repair machinery, using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment. The following task are broken down into job responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Batch Concrete: * Calibrate batch plant (daily) * Fill aggregate hoppers, refill as needed. * Schedule filling aggregate bunkers and cement silo. * Keep area around batch plant clean * Maintain batch plant (grease bearings, replace conveyor belts,) Operate mixer truck: * Operate the mixer truck, discharge the concrete. * Clean the mixer truck * Maintain mixer truck (check oil coolant/antifreeze daily, grease rollers regularly. * Chip out inside of mixer truck as needed. Quality control: * Take moisture samples* * Calculate water/cement ratio and know the capability of our mixes. * Take test cylinders of concrete* * Break test Cylinders* * Keep records of all testing and batch tickets* * Know the admixtures we use and what their capabilities are. The Wastewater Operator reports to the Wastewater Division Manager and performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work on the sanitary sewer and collection systems. __________________________________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Maintain Sewage System Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair sewage systems, pumps, motors, grinders, generators, and other equipment. Schedule maintenance for equipment and complete the scheduled maintenance. Maintain, inspect, and clean all pump station buildings and grounds. Operate and maintain gasoline and diesel engines, and backup power generator system. Keep accurate records, i.e. charts and daily logs, of all maintenance and repairs. Respond to lift station alarms and collection system emergencies after regular hours (on call). Daily inspection of pump stations for irregular flows, noises, smells, vibrations, and any operation malfunctions that could lead to an unexpected failure. Maintain Sewer Collection Systems Repair and/or replace cracked and/or broken sewer lines. Locate area and uncover the damaged line. Evaluate the problem and identify a solution. Obtain appropriate repair supplies. Cut out the damaged section of line and install new line. Replace road-base and prepare for asphalt finishing. Clean and or inspect system pipes on a regular maintenance schedule. Clean, repair and or inspect sewer lines in emergency situations. Monitoring and Sampling Install flow metering equipment in designated manholes for capacity monitoring. Program meters for accurate collection. Collects and verifies data. This position works under the direction of the Water and Sewer Division Manager. Responsibilities include assisting in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of, culinary water, pressurized irrigation, and sanitary sewer, cleaning, and water meter reading and maintenance. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Assist the following: Inspect, maintain, and/or repair utility infrastructure, including water lines, sewer lines and pressure irrigation systems. The Water Technician III/IV works under the direction of the Water Manager to maintain, install, and repair water utility equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Exercises water valves, repairs and/or replaces. Locates and verifies placement of all water valves. Cleans out valve boxes. Exercises valves by opening and closing them. Repairs and/or replaces valve and/or valve box as needed. Maintains necessary records for maintenance management. Exercises, flushes, repairs and/or replaces fire hydrants. Unscrews all nozzles, greases the threads, and replaces caps. Exercises gate valves by opening and closing them. Unscrews caps to allow water to flush freely from the fire hydrant. Repairs and /or replaces hydrants as needed. Maintains necessary records for maintenance management. Repair and/or replace water service lines, water mains and water meters. Uncovers the water line. Evaluates the problem and identifies a solution. Closes water valves to shut down extra flow of water, if needed. Obtains appropriate repair supplies. Repair leaks, possibly while under water pressure. Replaces road base and prepares the site for asphalt paving in accordance with City specifications. Repairs or changes out water meters, recording new and old information (meter numbers, usage readings, and other information requested by utility billing). Installs and/or inspects new water mains, water lines, and water meters. Determines size of water main required and obtains appropriate supplies, or verify proper materials are used and installation is completed in accordance with applicable codes. Uncover the ground where the line is to be located and prepare the bedding with compacted sand or other appropriate base, and verifies proper grading, if needed. Installs, chlorinates, and tests (pressure and coliform) water line or oversees the completion of the process. Installs new service lines and/or water meters, as needed. Pulls water samples in accordance with State requirements and submits them to the approved testing lab. Backfills trench according to City specifications and places lines in service. Inspects water system cross-connections. Meets with business owners to determine where and how water is used. Notifies owners of corrections and/or backflow devices required. Tests city-owned backflow assemblies and repairs and/or replaces, as needed. Reviews backflow test results and notifies supervisor of concerns. Oversees functions of wells and county connections. Cleans tanks and reservoirs. Tests water sources monthly. Monitors businesses for possible discharge of hazardous materials into the water supply. Monitors well sources and county connections to determine adequate water production. Performs acid treatments on wells. Obtains necessary permits and plans. Mixes and injects many different chemicals used to clean potable water wells. Extracts and neutralizes chemicals after cleaning. Sanitizes well after cleaning. Pulls water samples per State requirements and submits them to the approved testing lab. Obtains an operating permit before using the well. Rotates on-call status for response to water system problems and scheduled well checks as assigned.
