Under general supervision oversee the operation, repair and maintenance of operating equipment; serve as the in-house plant operator; respond to and make minor and emergency repairs to all BPHC related equipment, power failures, water and steam line breaks, and all associated electrical components. Duties: Monitor all operating equipment related computers and be able to respond to problems via computer. Lubricate machinery and equipment as assigned. Provide necessary preventative maintenance. Maintain and repair BPHC equipment i.e. air compressors, refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems, heating systems, low pressure lines, condensate pumps, thermostats, air and steam pressure regulators and any associated equipment. Assist in the startup and shutdown of boilers and equipment as directed. Monitor, operate and regulate the steam system that produces heat and hot water. Repair leaks in steam, oil and return lines; packing pumps, change gaskets, repair regulating equipment, replace traps, repair cooling systems, packing machinery and replace valves. Record building HVAC air handler and fan coil unit temperatures on daily log sheets. Monitor all building HVAC systems via computer-based programs and adjust as necessary. Position Responsibilities: · Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, systems include, but are not exclusively limited to boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment · Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators and electrical devices · Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and/or potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations · Monitor air pollution control equipment · Perform various types of material sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water, as required · Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as: cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts · Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations Position Requirements & Qualifications: · High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred · A minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating heavy industrial equipment preferred · Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule · 2nd MA Fireman license or higher required Physical Demands of the Role: · Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb · Ability to lift/carry 50lbs · Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces · Qualify to wear a full-face respirator · Consistently work in various weather conditions The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $30.80 - $41.03 per hour. Essential Responsibilities: Operate all boilers and boiler auxiliaries in the power plant, including all types of equipment to support the entire facility Support the organization and determination of boiler load and load distribution Report operating conditions to and operate under the direction of Power Plant Engineer Operating includes communication between operators and maintaining proper operating conditions, boiler pressure, steam temperature, water levels and operating all types of auxiliary power plant equipment Take required action in emergencies, report any unsafe conditions, keep area clean, etc. Monitor alarm panel and take actions to alarms and or notify appropriate personnel Make tests on water and determine characteristics such as sulfate, alkalinity, phosphate, solids and oxygen on water condition Prepare records, record data and make necessary correction to control water condition Perform related duties to maintain proper water treatment Report unusual or unsafe conditions and take action when needed and or notify appropriate personnel, take required action in emergencies Comply with all state regulations regarding boiler / turbine operation and all state records and logs must be completed Complete and maintain company records and logs relative to all phases of the power plant operation and maintenance requests Must be knowledgeable of all power plant systems including steam and water lines, condensate lines, surge tank lines, compressed air lines and all other lines pertinent to the operation of the facility Power Plant Operators must wear proper PPE for work being performed, keep assigned areas clean and provide communication to Power Plant Operators and Power Plant Engineers Perform other duties as required Rotating Shift 4/10 hour days with Additional Weekly Overtime Available!
