Job Summary Location: Stockton, CA The person holding this position will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all power plant equipment and assist with maintenance tasks as assigned. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor. Key Accountabilities * Performs all station shift operation and maintenance, including startup and shutdown of main plant components and auxiliaries * Perform operations in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures and job safety standards * Respond to abnormalities and take corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and good engineering practice * Conducts routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment; record readings and provides feedback to other employees * Complies with all site safety requirements and procedures. With big ambitions, we specialize in the development, construction and operation of RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric and dairy digester facilities. The team operates around 50 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline. About the role At our Northwest Tennessee Renewable Natural Gas Plant in Union City, TN, we convert landfill gas into pipeline quality natural gas (High Btu or Renewable Natural Gas). Our Operations Technician operates the landfill gas processing facility. We process the landfill gas by removing the majority of the non-methane components including CO2, water, sulfur and volatile and non-volatile organic compounds to attain pipeline quality. The RNG Operator will operate and maintain Landfill gas to High BTU processing facility; which will include Guild gas process, Gas Compressors, CO2 removal system, Thermal-Oxidizers, and H2S removal systems. We also perform intermediate to sophisticated level Instrument and Control repair, maintenance, calibration and solving. This site's weekly schedule consists of four 10-hour days; there are two shifts Mon. -Thurs. or Tues. -Fri 6am-4pm or 8am-6pm. Must be available for on-call duty on a rotating basis. The schedule is subject to change per business needs and management discretion. Key accountabilities Own the safe operation of the plant during assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and prescribed safety and environmental standards. Make periodic inspections of plant equipment to resolve accurate and normal operating conditions. Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare to trends and have the ability to make corrections as needed. Review daily operating reports and other records to ensure specified operating characteristics in control of the plant equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and solving on plant instrumentation and equipment. Detect and correct faulty and malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components, devices and equipment. Operate sophisticated instrumentation and process control systems. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters. Tackle and repair electrical system wiring from control wiring up to 480 volts. Install, remove and modify equipment. Advise Lead Operation Technician and Regional Manager of shutdown or major changes in power output of unit. Maintain all plant equipment and structures per manufactures and Archaea Energy guidelines. Maintain a clean work space including the plant building, control room, rest room, break room and grounds. Maintain daily operation logs for shift per prescribed standards. Assist in planning maintenance and outage activities. Assist in defining, ordering and procuring all required parts. Responds in a timely manner to callouts and works overtime as the need arises. Perform analytical tests as needed (i. e. PH, Conductivity, methane, H2S, moisture). Support all facets of Hazardous waste handling and management in accordance with training. Duties may range from filling of waste containers, accurate labeling, movement of containers, completing appropriate paperwork, and signing of Hazardous waste shipping manifest or receiving hazardous products. Technical / Solving skills with ability to read and understand sophisticated technical manuals and schematics. Knowledge of basic math, gas chemistry, piping and instrumentation drawings. Follow established procedures with minimal amount of general supervision (i. e. , work independently). Ability to recognize colors, able to distinguish between the red and green status indicators on PLC and wire colors. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Responsibilities require the technical and functional supervision and lead direction of lower-level plant personnel.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Lead and participate in the operation, monitoring, and control of the City's combined wastewater control system, conventional surface water treatment plants, and outlying pumping stations on an assigned shift. * Participate in and direct the operation of plant equipment including chemical feed, computer, and telemetry systems, microprocessors, pumps, flow control gates, and plant communications systems. * Plan the operation of the City's entire potable water treatment and distribution system for an assigned shift including anticipating water demand, hour by hour, and adjusting plant influents, effluents and reservoir filling and drawing to maintain pressure in the distribution system within given parameters. * Plan and schedule water treatment plant activities such as filter backwashes, sludge pumping, filter washwater recycling and other related activities. * Monitor water quality during treatment process through visual inspection and the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and adjust influent flows, chemical dosages and filtration rates based on observations; take corrective action on problems identified including hazardous or toxic material spills that affect water supplies. * Coordinate and maintain wastewater pumping operations in conjunction with the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. * Monitor and inspect plant equipment and respond to treatment process and equipment alarms. * Monitor the condition and functional capabilities of automated and manual plant equipment and machinery; direct and perform minor preventive maintenance and recommend maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment as necessary. * Assess and gauge flow rates during inclement weather and determine when to direct storm water and personnel to various storage and disposal locations; determine timing and degree to which operations should be activated and deactivated. * Perform and interpret standardized water quality tests such as chlorine residual, pH, turbidity, alkalinity, total suspended solids, settleable solids, chlorine residual, pH, dissolved oxygen and jar tests, and calculate and make dosage and related chemical feed equipment adjustments based upon the results from such tests. * Perform efficiency tests on pumps, compressors, and related equipment. * Monitor the status of plant pumping and equipment, using technical information such as main pressure, system pressure, wet well elevation, water elevations, electrical system voltages, pump motor voltages, and computer system outputs. * Direct and coordinate trash screen cleaning, filters, and related work involving the upkeep of plant facilities. * Maintain and update plant operation logs and records. * Use Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and computerized maintenance management systems. * Maintain and replenish materials and supplies necessary for plant operation. * Operate equipment such as engine driven pumps, generators, compressors, hoists, forklifts, cranes and other heavy equipment. * Schedule and coordinate the work of assigned plant operation personnel. * Train and assist less experienced personnel in plant operations; ensure that proper safety practices are followed. * Work in confined spaces, on temporary scaffolding, and on high structures; using breathing apparatus and/or Level I Hazmat suits. * Other related duties may also be performed; not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual holding this classification.Knowledge of: * Operating principles, methods, equipment, supplies, and materials used in the combined wastewater control system, drinking water treatment plants, wells, and pumping stations. * Principles of water and wastewater treatment processes, including coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, fluoridation, corrosion control, and sludge handling. * Standards and practices of the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of sanitary and storm pumping stations, drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, and related facilities. * Control measuring devices, gauges, meters, and instruments necessary to properly evaluate and determine the status of the control systems. * Principles of mathematics, algebra, chemistry, and hydraulics as they apply to plant operations. * Safe and efficient work practices. * General mechanical principles and practices relating to plant equipment and machinery. * Hazardous materials related to plant operations. * Principles and practices of effective supervision and training.
