Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Operate and maintain boilers, boiler controls, boiler drying and air filtration equipment and moisture separators and their drain systems
* Lubricate compressed air systems
* Correct PH in the water entering tubers and perform laboratory water tests and other water chemistry tests as necessary
* In accordance with EPA, OSHA and other environmental and safety regulations, safely and efficiently operate: Enter test results and equipment operational data into spreadsheets and data collection systems and analyze the data for trends and report out as needed
* Powerhouse equipment such as heat transfer and combustion systems
* Steam and condensate return systems
* Piping systems and pressure vessels
* Operate Allen Bradley DCS and other computerized systems
* Inspect and repair equipment and piping, including that above the powerhouse roof as scheduled or as required to maintain reliability and safe operations
* Operate and maintain: Open and close large valves, handle heavy weight in excess of 80 pounds, and operate boiler soot blowers
* Natural gas, fuel oil heating systems, pumps and pumping systems
* Water treatment systems including salt brine, water softeners, de-aerating heater, flash tanks, hot well filters, condensate return, chemical injection pumps, etc.
* Electric power breakers and switch gears, meter systems, ventilation systems, heat recovery systems, and heat exchange equipment
* Report equipment irregularities and concerns to supervisors and communicate operating information among other operators
* Contain, clean up and dispose of spills including acid and chemical spills, as well as handling steam and air leaks in accordance with environmental and safety regulations
* Log or use computerized work order system for repair and maintenance activities performed
* Abide by safe work standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
* Adhere to Goodyear's attendance policy
* Perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods of time, which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when applicable
Basic Qualifications:
* HS Diploma/GED

The Water Process Operator I performs a variety of skilled computer, laboratory, and field work to ensure the proper operation of pumps, valves, motors and other equipment for regulatory compliance. They work with a trained team and independently at times playing a key role in drinking water production for the City of Olathe. This position is part of a three-level career progression of Water Process Operator I, Water Process Operator II, and Water Control Operator.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspects, monitors, and documents plant and remote facility operations by reading and interpreting information provided by the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, meters, gauges, and other field instrumentation; performs general plant facility maintenance including cleaning and repairing plant facilities; performs visual checks of pumps, valves, motors, and other equipment; collaborates with operation and maintenance team to troubleshoot plant processes and equipment.
* Collects samples and performs a variety of process and regulatory water quality tests as part of a certified field laboratory; completes associated documentation for sample collection and analysis; works closely with the City's Environmental Laboratory on testing requirements and techniques.
* Maintains accurate plant operation logs and reports; performs and documents mathematical calculations; utilizes a variety of software applications such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database, Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and the SCADA system; communicates effectively and follows written and oral instructions.

Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required. A Class I Water Operator Certification within the State of Kansas is required within 24 months of employment.
Environmental or Physical Demands: The Water Process Operator I will perform work in both indoor and outdoor environments and will be subject to adverse weather conditions and noise. The work requires routine and frequent sitting, walking, standing, twisting, bending, kneeling, and climbing and descending ladders and stairs. Employees in this role will push, pull, and lift heavy objects and equipment including empty and charged fire hoses, plastic and metal 55- gallon drums. The Field Operator is an infrastructure maintenance position that will perform a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, technical, and/or manual labor activities and duties related to the maintenance and repair of public infrastructure. Field Operators may be assigned to collection/distribution system maintenance, street maintenance (concrete and asphalt), storm water construction and maintenance, levee maintenance or airport maintenance, or water meter reading, and will be cross-trained in field maintenance operations.
Responsibilities:
Duties may include installation, maintenance, and repair, of infrastructure within city right-of-way, property, easement, and facilities; use of computer technology; water meter readings, and operation of vehicles, equipment, and tools required for position assignment. All crews assist with special in-house construction projects, may be assigned to assist other crews, provide emergency response and seasonal snow removal and may include 12-hour shifts working days and/or nights.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Three years of increasingly responsible heavy equipment operation, construction, or building trades preferred. Must possess valid Kansas driver's license; will be required to obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of hire. Must acquire job-required certifications within 24/42 months of hire for continued employment. The successful candidate must pass the City background check post-offer City physical and drug screen.

* Inspects, monitors, and documents plant and remote facility operations by reading and interpreting information provided by the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, meters, gauges, and other field instrumentation; performs general plant facility maintenance including cleaning and repairing plant facilities; performs visual checks of pumps, valves, motors, and other equipment; collaborates with operation and maintenance teams to troubleshoot plant processes and equipment.

Operate, monitor and perform light maintenance on equipment used in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant facility.
Collect and analyze samples of water, wastewater and sludge.
Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and water quality reports.
Perform general grounds and housekeeping tasks.

This position performs skilled, semi-skilled, technical, and manual labor involving equipment preventative maintenance and process operations of wastewater treatment facilities and other utility facilities. Responsibilities: Treatment/Utility Operator activities includes the use of computer technology, sampling and laboratory analysis, operation of heavy equipment and vehicles, plant equipment, and field equipment. This position requires 12-hour rotating shift work. Must be willing and able to work Nights, Days, Weekends, and Holidays and respond to emergencies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Training in water/wastewater treatment operations (or equivalent knowledge of biology, chemistry, or a related field), mechanical systems, or equipment maintenance is preferred. Although no experience is required, preferred candidate will have one to two years of responsible experience in wastewater operation as well as basic knowledge of mathematic principles and computer-controlled systems. The successful candidate must pass the background check, post-offer City physical and drug screen.
