The Technician operates various types of equipment within the cylinder preparation area in accordance with Airgas standard work procedures to properly empty previous contents and prepare gas cylinders. Responsible for safety, product quality, and productivity during the work shift. Sorts cylinders according to cylinder size and service, scrapes and paints cylinders, maintains organization in the cylinder yard, moves cylinders by forklift and handcart within the facility. Inspects and prepares high and low pressure cylinders for the filling process, performs required maintenance on cylinders. Load and unload common carrier trucks and Airgas shuttle trucks. Responsibilities and Duties: Sort and evaluate incoming gas cylinders. Move cylinders to designated processing areas. Scrape labels from cylinders. Paint and apply temperature coating to cylinders. Perform visual Inspection of gas cylinders. Install new cylinder valves in both low and high pressure cylinders. Operate vacuum pumps, cylinder driers, cylinder bake out system, high pressure manifolds and associated equipment. Maintain prepped cylinder inventory ready for production, allocates cylinders to customer orders. Maintain the cylinder yard in a clean and orderly manner. About the role The role of the Chemical Process Operator is to produce finished bulk product for Packaging ensuring safe operations, product quality, on time delivery and the efficiency of Processing Operation. Your responsibilities TECHNICAL & OPERATIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED: * Follow detailed written methods, instructions and formula for mixing, blending and compounding specific ingredients in precise amounts for the manufacture of consumer and industrial products. * distinguish between various raw materials by proper labels and physical properties during batching * Prepares and makes ready all materials for manufacturing. Monitors change of temperature, pressure, visual appearance, physical changes and other significant developments which serve as an indication of process progress. * Fill out a batch sheet complete with all necessary data including but not limited to weight of each add, time of completion with date and testing results. * Able to communicate any change or discrepancy to equipment or batches on time, clearly and effectively across the team * Perform routine physical or chemical tests necessary for adjustment and provide samples of finished product to Quality Assurance for testing and approval. * Label all retains with complete data * Maintain working knowledge of all pipelines, connections, valves, storage and location of all equipment necessary for this operation. * Maintain clean work areas, cleans manufacturing and storage tanks, all lines and all other equipment, using steam and various cleaning agents as required. * Monitor machinery and equipment to assure it is operating properly and make minor mechanical adjustments when necessary. Perform routine preventative maintenance. Contact the proper authority for major adjustments or repair. * Fill BMT's as required with proper packaging and labeling materials or manufacturing orders requesting raw materials. * Operate Lift Truck to move/store raw materials. * Assist Raw Material Operator with receiving all bulk raw materials delivered by rail cars or tank trucks in Tank Farm. * Assist in taking inventory as needed (daily, weekly, and annual). * Work as a fully participating member of a self-managed work team running the day to day Processing business with direction from the Processing Lead. * Hazardous Waste Operation (HAZWOPER ) training and certification required (provided by company) * Mandatory member of Spill Response Team - may require use of respirator; based on level of HAZWOPER Cert. * Operate the low and high pressure boilers on site. The experience we're looking for * Chemical Process Operator regularly works an eight (8) hrs weekday schedule or a twelve (12) hour weekend shift - overtime (including weekend work) is common and required. * Must be able to work any shift, weekends and mandatory overtime as needed. * Frequent lifting of tools and equipment up to 50lbs. is required. * Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, turning in performance of duties. * Walking, standing and climbing stairs and crossovers are common. * Work is indoors/outdoors and temperatures are seasonably normal for indoor factory/production and outdoor Tank Farm operations. * Proper use of PPE is always required.
