Our ideal applicant possesses a high school diploma or equivalent, mechanical ability to repair and maintain and/or rebuild equipment, general understanding of processing equipment (valves, pipes, pumps, boiler, etc.), proficiency with basic computing software (Microsoft Office), and automated processes with an HMI System, in addition to excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This position features physical demands including but not limited to - ability to use upper and lower extremities to perform maintenance and repair functions, lift and carry 50 pounds +- of materials, pumps, heat exchanges and tools, and climb stairs and ladders, and ability to work for intermittent period outdoors in ambient temperature and precipitation extremes typical of Hawai'i climate.
This is a regular, full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Pay is from $20-$23/hour, based on skills/experience + benefits including 100% single coverage medical, drug, vision, and dental insurance; 401(k) plan, paid time off, and nine paid holidays.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Training and Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
* graduation from high school, and

Responsibilities Include:
Maintain OSP and ISP cable infrastructure for JBPHH and other supporting locations.
Construct/repair pathways (tray, ladder rack, sleeves, fire-stopping).
Test and repair in-ground and aerial cables, including splice cases and associated equipment, for both copper and fiber. Perform fusion splicing, closure builds, sheath repairs.
Conduct end-to-end cable audits (continuity, utilization/capacity) and propose improvements to maximize capacity and availability.
Documentation of above items for trend analysis, history records, and contract deliverables. Maintain documentation libraries.
Perform Layer 1 telecommunications troubleshooting and maintenance across copper, fiber, and coaxial cabling systems.
Follow operational procedures for aerial, direct-buried, manhole, and conduit-based telecommunications infrastructure.
Operate TDR and OTDR test equipment to troubleshoot and certify ISP and OSP cabling systems.
Operate aerial infrastructure equipment including bucket trucks, lashing machines, and associated tools while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards.
Perform work in confined spaces in compliance with all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
Conduct cable locating services to isolate faults and support dig permit and utility coordination efforts.
Perform fiber and copper splicing, termination, and restoration activities.
Maintain detailed documentation including daily status reports, butterfly drawings, fiber and copper cut sheets, and troubleshooting reports.

+ Promptly responds to trouble and service calls from customers. Identifies and contacts appropriate parties to expedite solution.

+ Monitors and addresses call(s) from emergency agencies including police & fire hotline relating to system events and customer outages.
+ Performs critical functions of the emergency management response, as assigned, and performs specific assignments or functions, as needed, in the event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
+ Participates in emergency response drills and exercises. Participates in control room evacuation/relocation exercises.
+ Assists field personnel with awareness of special conditions (e.g., environmental concerns, access to areas, etc.).
+ Contacts affected customers to confirm power outage and restoration.
+ Troubleshoots and directs distribution field personnel (such as PTMs) for single-phase and/or single customer power outages and conducts restorations, network trouble and conducts restorations.

+ Writes and verifies routine and emergency switching procedures using available tools. Uses available tools (such as OMS, ADMS, or similar) to analyze switching issues.

+ System Operating Tools
+ Identifies critical customers using available tools (such as but not limited to OT systems (OMS, SCADA, ADMS, meter data interfaces), GIS, and Single-line Diagrams).

+ Utilizes system electrical maps, schematics, such as OMS, ADMS, SCADA, EMS, Customer Information Systems (CIS), Meter data systems, company database and applications.
+ Supports and adopts new OT and system tools, as assigned (e.g., ADMS, FLISR, MDMS, DERMS, DRMS, CIS/EAM/ERP etc.). Applies new tool integration into work process.
+ Responds to underground facilities locating (toning) requests.
+ Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
Other Responsibilities:
+ Supports and assists GSO and System Operation Shift Supervisor on shift where needed (e.g., logging, creating Repair Orders, information requests, updating OMS models and drawings to reflect current system state, etc.). Coordinates and informs other control room personnel.
