Equipment includes mixers, grinders, filter presses, dryers, filtering equipment, pumps, and filling machines. Processes may generate high pressure and/or critical reactions and requires training in hazardous material handling and emergency procedures. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Operate the Chemical Wastewater & Oily Wastewater Treatment facilities; ensuring the removal or reduction of heavy metals and/or other contaminants prior to discharge. Monitors unit processes (equalization, chemical addition, filtration, etc.) and adjusts flow rates, chemical federates and other variables to properly treat wastewater handled by these facilities. Collects and analyzes wastewater samples, identifying chemical properties and contaminants to determine required treatment processes and/or evaluate plant operating performance.
Basic Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience; Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 1 year of related experience. May require certification.

We are looking for a motivated individual to work on a crew at an Asphalt Production Facility for one of the largest heavy civil construction companies in the Mid-Atlantic area. Operate asphalt plant - automated drum and batch plant systems - operations are controlled through automated computer systems and control boards.

Assist as an equipment operator as needed - during production a CAT 980 or 966 Loader is operated to feed raw materials into cold feed/recycle bins and maintain/manage stockyard. We also operate manlifts, material handlers, skid steers, and forklifts, among other pieces of equipment. Training and evaluation occurs before operation of any of these pieces of equipment. The equipment operator is responsible for pre-shift inspections of equipment and helping to maintain the equipment.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Requires basic mechanical skills and basic knowledge of computers.
Mobile or stationary equipment experience is beneficial as is experience in the manufacturing or construction industries.

*SIGNING BONUS OF $2,000 * The City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly skilled self-starter and team player to monitor and maintain water treatment processes. Positions have promotion potential! As a Waterworks Class III Operato r, work involves monitoring and maintaining water treatment processes under the direction of senior operators at either of two water treatment plants. This position involves maintaining operational logs and records, monitoring the plant control ( SCADA ) system and making adjustments, as needed. This position will be responsible for monitoring the distribution and sewer collection systems and making adjustments in accordance with current operational guidelines. Performs routine laboratory tests and interprets results. As a Waterworks Class III Licensed Operator progressing to a Class II licensed Operator, this position will be responsible for monitoring the water treatment plant, including operation of chemical and physical process. This position will be responsible for running laboratory tests at either of two water treatment plants and capable of analyzing test results and plant equipment operation; adjust chemical or physical operation as required. Calibrate plant equipment to standards to ensure accurate measurement of water treatment processes. As a Waterworks Class II Operator progressing to a Class I Licensed Operator, this position will require you to oversee the junior operators and oversee treatment operations at either of the two water treatment plants. We are seeking an individual with leadership qualities who can provide training on water treatment processes and systems and overall plant operations. Work involves scheduling operators, dispatching service calls for after-hours operations, calibrating plant equipment, monitoring physical and chemical water treatment processes, and managing the wastewater system within the plant. Maintains operational logs and performs routine laboratory tests, analyzes results and makes adjustments, as needed. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment equipment and systems. Coordinates activities with other departments and offices to maintain normal operation of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. Capable of maintaining the plant equipment operation and controlling mechanical, electrical, electronic chemical equipment involved in pumping and/or treating water to ensure accurate measurement of water treatment processes. The employee will also be responsible for determining and adjusting chemical feeds as required. Ability to maintain records of chemical usage and daily pumpage for monthly reporting and routine preventive maintenance. The employee will be responsible for interacting with customers by answering questions and providing general information about the Department. In either position, the employee will be required to perform routine office tasks, such as, typing, filing, faxing, phoning, copying, and maintaining logs and records. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Operator will have designation as an operator in responsible charge after requiring a Class II Waterworks License Operator. A Career Progression Program has been established to compensate and award operators for their contribution to the organization as demonstrated by the successful application of the desired knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies for each level of operator certification. Requirements of a Water Treatment Plant Operator I (Waterworks Class 3) WTPO's will be required to complete the following tasks within the prescribed timelines to comply with the eligibility requirements for the WTPO I job classification: obtain the Virginia Class 3 Waterworks license within (24) months of hire as a WTPO I, complete internal qualifications for WTPO I within (12) months of hire as a WTPO I, hold a valid driver's license, and meet the driving standards as outlined in the City's Driving Standards policy, Administrative Regulation 1.20. Requirements of a Water Treatment Plant Operator II (Waterworks Class 2) Any employee possessing a valid Class I or Class II Virginia waterworks license may be designated as the Operator in Responsible Charge by the Designated Operator for the City's two water treatment plants. Job Duties:
Prepare for the efficient start-up of our roasters, which includes checking production schedules, making sure green coffee is available, and completing necessary paperwork
Work on the blending, grinding, flavoring, and roasting processes; you will be responsible for quality output
Coordinate the changeover activities to ensure the process occurs quickly and efficiently with as little downtime as possible
Communicate any changes made on the equipment to coworkers and other affected departments
Complete paperwork and communicate status of lines and other updates within your work areas
Continuously monitor quality and check product for defects, as well as ensure moisture, grind, color is in spec
Utilize and interface with operations computer programs (OIT) to monitor activities
Monitor daily roasted coffee production figures
Participate in our Continuous Improvement (CI) program (root cause problem-solving, ensure open communication, generate ideas, recommend improvements, etc.)
Continuously monitor equipment to detect issues; communicate concerns/issues with Maintenance and supervisor
Prepare for next shift; have all information needed (organized); effectively communicate all changes and ensure equipment is ready to operate
Ensure Specification Sheets are followed precisely
Ensure quality documentation and other paperwork is filled out correctly and completely - includes electronic recording
Reconcile daily production figures, track downtime, and make sure documents are turned in at end of shift
Adhere to all good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and abide by all safety and sanitation regulations
Attend and participate in daily production meetings, weekly team meetings, and other meetings as needed
Meet with coworkers to discuss production issues and workflow
Participate in month-end inventory
Abide by all OSHA regulations and ensure work areas are safe and free of safety concerns and violations; immediately report safety hazards or unsafe acts to supervisor

· Collect, document and report operating conditions of specific wastewater/water treatment equipment and systems

Responsibilities
We are looking for a motivated individual to work on a crew at an Asphalt Production Facility for one of the largest heavy civil construction companies in the Mid-Atlantic area. Critical thinking skills, mechanical ability, communication skills, an ability to learn, focus and commitment to safety, and a hard working attitude are necessary. Equipment operation experience and mechanical skills are beneficial. Most employees are multi-disciplined and perform a few if not all of the roles at the facility and sometimes multiple roles in the same shift. Various skill training and personal development is provided and growth and advancement is available and promoted within the company. The work is performed in a fast paced environment and often critical to the success of large scale heavy civil construction projects on the largest and most high profile highways and interstates in the area.
Operate asphalt plant - automated drum and batch plant systems - operations are controlled through automated computer systems and control boards.
Communicate with quality control personnel to ensure specifications are met and adjust mix formulas and production to do so.
Monitor plant status, adjust plant as needed, load out material onto dump trucks, dispatch trucks.
Communicate with internal paving crews and project teams as well as external customers and adjusts production to maximize profits, minimize waste, maintain or improve quality,
Ensure customer satisfaction through quality and customer service.
Keep plant running at optimal performance to avoid downtime and ensure customer satisfaction.
Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your co-workers. Participate in safety discussions and support the company's vision on safety.
Schedule production needs for the following day and adjust schedule for current day.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly documentation and reporting as needed
Plan the following day's production plan and order raw materials.
Assist in preventative maintenance on the plant, scheduled repairs, and breakdown repairs. Focus on eliminating downtime and provide innovative solutions to do so. Perform winter maintenance repairs on plant.
Assist as an equipment operator as needed - during production a CAT 980 or 966 Loader is operated to feed raw materials into cold feed/recycle bins and maintain/manage stockyard. We also operate manlifts, material handlers, skid steers, and forklifts, among other pieces of equipment. Training and evaluation occurs before operation of any of these pieces of equipment. The equipment operator is responsible for pre-shift inspections of equipment and helping to maintain the equipment.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Requires basic mechanical skills and basic knowledge of computers.
Mobile or stationary equipment experience is beneficial as is experience in the manufacturing or construction industries.
Physical Demands - Labor can range from light to heavy
Work Environment - Control tower, outside around industrial environment, inside mobile equipment, inside of stationary equipment where PPE, monitoring systems, and precautions are used to avoid exposure to hazards.
