Responsibilities
+ Oversee and manage the USCIS enterprise cable plant, including copper and fiber infrastructure across multiple facilities.
+ Plan, design, and coordinate the installation, testing, and certification of structured cabling systems (voice, data, and fiber).
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of the cable plant, including as-built drawings, labeling schemes, patch panel assignments, and pathway utilization.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for all cabling and connectivity issues; ensure timely troubleshooting and repair of cabling faults.
+ Conduct and supervise site surveys, infrastructure assessments, and capacity planning for new installations or expansions.
+ Implement and enforce cabling standards and best practices (TIA/EIA-568, 569, 606, and 607), ensuring consistency across all USCIS sites.
+ Coordinate with network engineering, facility management, and project management teams to support new builds, renovations, and technology refreshes.
+ Manage vendors and subcontractors performing cable installations or maintenance; review and approve workmanship for compliance and quality.
+ Oversee cable management within telecommunications rooms, data centers, and work areas; ensure neatness, organization, and compliance with safety codes.
+ Maintain an inventory of cabling materials, termination hardware, patch cords, and related supplies.
+ Support lifecycle management of the cable plant, including replacement schedules, capacity tracking, and upgrade planning.
+ Generate and maintain cable management databases or tools for inventory and change tracking.
+ Provide senior-level technical support for complex installation, signal loss, and cross-connect issues.
+ Train and mentor junior technicians and staff on proper cabling techniques, standards, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
+ U.S. Citizenship (mandatory for USCIS contract work).
+ Ability to obtain and maintain DHS/USCIS suitability or clearance.
+ High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or post-secondary education preferred.
+ Minimum of 8 years of experience in telecommunications installation and cabling management, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
