Technical Support: Provide proactive and reactive support to operators, ensuring products remain in spec and resolving issues quickly. Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain detailed process documentation, SOPs, and quality standards. Trials & Testing: Plan and execute trials to validate processes, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance; conduct lab evaluations and comparative analysis with competitive products. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency in label manufacturing and related operations. Customer Interaction: Support customer and MCC-sponsored new product development projects; participate in coater trials and customer visits, occasionally requiring on-site work across shifts. Quality Oversight: Maintain lab/testing equipment and calibrations; initiate raw material complaints (SNAR), track corrective actions, and manage quality holds. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (or equivalent experience); 2- or 4-year degree or 2-4 years of related experience/training acceptable. Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in labels or similar industries. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Math skills (including Algebra) and knowledge of printing/converting materials and technologies. Excellent communication and training skills; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to travel for internal and customer visits and trials. Other Considerations: Occasional lifting of rolls/samples up to 40-45 lbs. Work around coating and slitting equipment; safety shoes may be required. Perform first piece inspection and provide QA Tech part for approval after mold changeover. Troubleshoot equipment processing problems related to product quality. Complete all required production and quality assurance documentation. Evaluate, recommend and execute continuous improvement suggestions to improve the operating efficiency as appropriate. Follow all safety procedures in completion of job duties. Verify all safety-related devices, machine guarding, signage, etc. are in place and functioning prior to releasing equipment for production. Wear required PPE. Participate in 6S events and sustain 6S standards through good housekeeping and execution of standard work including knowledge of lock out, tag out procedures. Maximize the flow of communication for effective performance within the department and between shifts. Utilize LEAN Thinking in formal and informal settings including participating in LEAN Events (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Projects, Just-Do-It), submitting Suggestions, attending LEAN Training, and improving work cell/areas of responsibility daily. In conjunction with the Supervisor, the Technician plays a critical role in assuring safe, effective and compliant activities are performed in the manual inspection process while maintaining production schedules. The Technician will receive direction, training and mentorship from the Supervisor of Inspection and Packaging. The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving molding process issues, including material flow, temperature control and cycle times. The Process Technician verifies correct set-up of molds, materials and processes and auxiliary equipment before machine start up to ensure part conformity and quality products. Job Responsibilities: The list is a comprehensive list meant to represent the most common or important duties of the position. Other duties may be required and/or assigned.
