To better serve his key customer, 3M, an injection molding press along with contract assembly of molded parts was added in 1962, thus giving birth to Plastic Products Company, Inc. (PPC). Several new customers and presses were added into the following decade.
Permanent members of National Plastic's management team decided to take matters into their own hands in 1969, forming a study group to develop a ten-year plan.
Matrix Plastic Products began operations in 1978 as Matrix Tooling.
1978 Chagrin Valley Corporation acquires the company.
Nevamar devoted four years and spent as much as $20 million to develop its own product, which it introduced in 1985 as Fountainhead.
Three suitors came calling, and in May 1990 the offer made by International Paper was accepted.
As our business grew based upon customer referrals, our reputation for precision, flexibility, and responsiveness allowed us to expand into injection molding in 1994.
1995 Micarta business is acquired by Nevamar.
2003 The Odenton plant closes.
Sommers awarded Compassionate Business by PETA in 2018.
