What You'll Do As a Plater at our Avon Lake facility, you'll play a key role in our manufacturing process by performing critical plating operations that ensure the durability and quality of our components. This hands-on position involves working with various chemicals and equipment to clean and plate metal parts according to precise specifications. Your responsibilities will include: Safely handling and mixing acids and plating chemicals while using proper PPE 100% of the time. Following detailed plating and cleaning procedures, including documentation per methods (e.g., WEPM6001, WEPM8006). Monitoring chemical tanks, performing titrations, and maintaining proper chemical balance and temperatures. Loading parts into baskets or onto racks and immersing them in chemical and rinse solutions. Drying and inspecting parts to ensure they meet quality standards. Performing preventative maintenance and tank cleaning as needed. Identifying and reworking non-conforming parts. Collaborating with team members to meet efficiency and quality goals. Reporting chemical reorder points and urgent issues to supervisors. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Being present, punctual, and prepared for each shift. SUMMARY OF JOB Training on 1st shift for approximately 60 days. 7am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday 2nd shift hours, 3pm to 11:30pm, Monday to Friday Responsible for the plating process(es) of customers' metal parts. We train on the job for up to 90 days. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Core Competencies Customer focus Self-driven & motivated to make impact Pursuit of high-quality work, in all aspects of the role Willingness to learn and share knowledge with others Positive attitude and teamwork (collaboration) Interpersonal accountability of his/her function Culture fit Strong attendance & Reliability Functions Reads and follows part plans for processing requirements Counts and controls all parts before and after plating Follows part plan work instructions for compliance to customer specifications Selects holding rack according to size, shape and number of objects to be processed Processes customer product in a defined series of cleaning, activating, plating and rinsing baths Measures thickness and diameters for pre- and post- plate dimensions Monitors tank temperatures, solution levels and rectifiers of plating bathes and records data Dries and packs parts to prevent damage or as specified by part plan instructions Operates computer terminal to view orders, start and complete individual work orders Documents process and inspection data on part plan Pre- and post- bake parts as required Performs online inspections as required by work order to ensure conformance of product to customer specification Strong attendance & Reliability When a documented process does not produce parts as expected, stops production and informs Group or Line Leader SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Takes Direction Aware of and seek to achieve productivity standards Aware of and seek to achieve quality standards Follows direction and schedule set by manager EDUCATION TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED preferred Math and reading skills necessary Micrometer and/or caliper experience preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
