Platform Manager Careers

Platform managers are responsible for overseeing the development of the platform that is used by those working for the computer company and/or the medium of customers who do business with the computer company. Some platform managers focus on improving the overall performance of computer systems, while other platform managers focus on developing platforms upon which computer programs will run.

They require a computer science or computer engineering degree to pursue a career as a platform manager. In addition to this educational background, platform managers need interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with staff and might also need to engage in customer service.

The median earnings for computer software engineers are $92,430, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, this figure can differ significantly depending upon experience and skills.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to being a platform manager. For example, did you know that they make an average of $58.67 an hour? That's $122,036 a year!

Between 2018 and 2028, the career is expected to grow 11% and produce 46,800 job opportunities across the U.S.

What Does a Platform Manager Do

There are certain skills that many platform managers have in order to accomplish their responsibilities. We discovered that a lot of resumes listed analytical skills, business skills and organizational skills.

When it comes to the most important skills required to be a platform manager, we found that a lot of resumes listed 12.6% of platform managers included project management, while 7.3% of resumes included salesforce, and 5.9% of resumes included infrastructure. Hard skills like these are helpful to have when it comes to performing essential job responsibilities.

If you're interested in becoming a platform manager, one of the first things to consider is how much education you need. We've determined that 70.7% of platform managers have a bachelor's degree. In terms of higher education levels, we found that 17.9% of platform managers have master's degrees. Even though most platform managers have a college degree, it's possible to become one with only a high school degree or GED.

Choosing the right major is always an important step when researching how to become a platform manager. When we researched the most common majors for a platform manager, we found that they most commonly earn bachelor's degree degrees or master's degree degrees. Other degrees that we often see on platform manager resumes include associate degree degrees or high school diploma degrees.

You may find that experience in other jobs will help you become a platform manager. In fact, many platform manager jobs require experience in a role such as project manager. Meanwhile, many platform managers also have previous career experience in roles such as program manager or software engineer.
