GENERAL DESCRIPTION
A Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as a key representative of PLEXSYS, supporting both internal and external customers in the operation of PLEXSYS M&S software products and systems. This senior-level role requires all-domain expertise and a strong background in applying M&S in support of training and mission planning. Responsibilities of a SME include providing timely responses to customer inquiries and the timely resolution of technical support related issues. Additionally, a SME provides installation, delivery and training in support of successful solution delivery of the PLEXSYS ecosystem and third-party product integration. This role works with internal stakeholders including the Capability Requirements Manager (CRM), Capabilities Development Manager (CDM), and Platform Manager. A SME supports and advises the CRM and CDM on features and enhancements that provide the most value to our customers. They also assist the Platform Manager in maintaining, updating and developing databases, exercise scenarios, and guiding users through the use of PLEXSYS products during virtual and constructive exercises.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide inputs to Customer Capabilities team in support of software development, the capabilities baseline and the capabilities roadmap.
Highly knowledgeable and proficient on the use of all PLEXSYS products and commonly utilized third party products
Train customers on PLEXSYS ecosystem and how it supports all phase, all domain training
Develop, maintain and update training products for customers
Create complex operational scenarios for advanced demonstration support and customer deliveries; be able to articulate and document discrepancies in achieving desired outcomes
Write checklists, training materials, reports and other documentation
Operate, interface and troubleshoot PLEXSYS products in support of Live, Virtual and Constructive exercises and training events
Interface PLEXSYS products with other customer simulation products as well as real-world systems
Ability to use critical thinking to process information and resolve issues quickly
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Work through complex situations and provide customers solutions
Interpret complex information and communicate it clearly and concisely, in general terms
Interpret network diagrams and understand connectivity between network participants
Assist customers seeking technical assistance online, over the phone, or email
Perform advanced troubleshooting on complex systems using diagnostic tools and determine the best solution based on details provided by customers
Navigate classification requirements and complexities while operating simulation environments, addressing network access and permissions
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) or six years military Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) experience with an understanding of Data link operations, airspace control and battle management of friendly air, ground and maritime forces
5-7 years of hands-on experience with modeling and simulation systems and a basic understanding of how aircraft, weapons and surveillance systems are used in modeling and simulation
Understanding of how to integrate modeling and simulation applications
Experience with Microsoft Office products; Word, Access and Excel
Ability to travel of up to 30% of the time
Desirable
Familiar with computer components, virtual machines, Microsoft, Linux and ability to diagnose issues in virtual and hardware environments

About the Role
We're seeking Software Engineers who can solve complex, high-impact problems across our stack. In this role, you'll join a nimble team driving the deployment of OpenAI's technology into new environments and infrastructure that power critical missions in the public sector.
You'll work cross-functionally with product, security, and compliance teams to build the functionality needed to deliver a scalable, reliable platform. You'll also partner directly with customers to design and build new products and features that create real-world impact.
From launching net-new capabilities to optimizing how we serve inference in unique, high-stakes environments, this role offers both breadth and technical depth-giving you the opportunity to shape the future of OpenAI's technology where it matters most.
This role is based in Washington D.C., San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA. Occasional travel to customer sites is required for this role.
In this role, you will:
Own the development of new customer-facing ChatGPT and OpenAI API features end-to-end, both on-premises and in the cloud, for our public sector customers.
Partner and directly embed with teams across the business, including engineering, security, and compliance, to enable our products to work within the unique constraints of new environments.
Talk to users to understand their problems and design solutions to address them
Work with the research team to get relevant feedback and iterate on their latest models, developing solutions specific for public sector customers at both the model & data layers.
Collaborate with a cross‑functional team of engineers, researchers, product managers, designers, and operations folks to create cutting‑edge products
Optimize applications for speed and scale
You might thrive in this role if you:
US Citizen
5+ years of relevant engineering experience at tech and product-driven companies
Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and other web technologies
Proficiency with some backend language (we use Python)
Some experience with underlying infrastructure primitives like Kubernetes and Terraform
Interest in AI/ML (direct experience not required)
Ability to move fast in an environment where things are sometimes loosely defined and may have competing priorities or deadlines
An interest in enabling public sector use cases with unique requirements

The role is to support the sales team with technical support skills in the field. To support the planning & diagnostics of real time issues generated by the challenges around the convergence of AV, IT, and comms in the current product line. To work closely with IT and network administrators in Promethean partners and customers to trouble shoot and advise how to integrate our products into diverse environments. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
To lead on all technical aspects of project based sales opportunities.
To work with partners on all technical aspects of project based sales opportunities.
Ensure that customer networks work well with our solutions.
Work closely with IT and network administrators to trouble shoot and advise how to integrate our products into their diverse environments.
Train all sales personnel in the areas of AV. Comms & IT.
Support our sales team to roll out solutions for the education market.
Provide onsite and remote technical training sessions for team members and Partners and end users.
Build out the Certified Installer Training course and deliver across the region, and adapt the training to meet current product line ups.
Develop support resources i.e TKB for Team members.
Support the Beta testing program of new products and feed back in results to relevant Promethean departments.
Support and produce content for the Learn Promethean CPD site. i.e. Panel Management content, Digital Online certified Installer Training Course.
Produce technical documentation to help support Team members and our Partners.
Present at sales events on the technical capabilities of Promethean products.
Provide technical support for customer events throughout the year.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
Sound knowledge and experience of Cisco networks, Microsoft, and Apple operating systems
Wireless Networking solutions with expertise around Bonjour/Multicast
Wireless mirroring protocols such as Airplay
Enterprise Applications and Active Directory integration
Working knowledge of Android operating systems
Proactive and self motivated.
