They work primarily in industrial, commercial settings, ensuring that pipes are properly fitted and connected to facilitate the flow of liquids, gases, and other substances. Duties & Responsibilities: * Pipe Installation: Pipe fitters are responsible for accurately measuring, cutting, and fitting pipes according to engineering specifications and blueprints. They work with various types of pipes, such as steel, copper, plastic, and stainless steel, and use tools like saws, pipe cutters, and threaders to shape and prepare the pipes for installation. * Pipe Connection: Pipe fitters connect pipes together using welding, soldering, brazing, or mechanical fittings. They may also install valves, gauges, and other control devices along the piping system. * Blueprint Interpretation: Pipe fitters need to be able to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and other technical documents to understand the layout and configuration of the piping systems they are working on. This includes identifying the types and sizes of pipes, determining the location of fittings, and planning the pipe routing. * Pipe Repair and Maintenance: Pipe fitters diagnose and troubleshoot issues with piping systems, such as leaks, blockages, or faulty components. Plumber Helper Department: Maintenance Reports To: Foreman FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the district. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Instructs custodians and maintenance workers on proper methods of procedures and proper use of tools in plumbing repair work. Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance. Orders and accounts for material and labor relative to assignments, accurately.
