JOB SUMMARY:
As a Pipefitter, you'll be responsible for laying out, installing, fitting and maintaining piping systems used in industrial construction. This role demands technical expertise, attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety. You may also support other trades when pipefitting work is not available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install and maintain piping systems for steam, water HVAC, lubrication and industrial processes.
Select appropriate pipe types and sizes per project specifications
Inspect worksites for obstructions and structural integrity before installation.
Plan installation sequences to avoid conflicts with other trades and construction activities.
Cut, bend, thread and join pipes using various tools and techniques
Join pipes using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints
Assemble and secure piping systems using clamps, brackets, and hangers.
Install/maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls
Test systems for leaks using diagnostic tools.
Collaborate with other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of field experience win commercial or industrial pipefitting.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
Strong problem-solving and arithmetic skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing tasks.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and visualize 3D structures from 2D plans.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Must possess the minimum tools required for Fitters under InServ Policy
Proficient in using:
Power drills, grinders, and saws
Pipe threading equipment of all types and sizes
Hand tools for lifting, positioning, and aligning (dollies, skates, chain falls, come-alongs, etc.)
Aerial lifts and forklifts (with approval)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work skillfully with hands
Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds
See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors
Reach for, handle, and grasp pipe, tubing, and hand tools
