Project scheduling, budget generation and control. Project Management PMP certification not required but valued. JOB DESCRIPTION Project Manager Plant Construction Salary Grade: G04 Minimum Midpoint Maximum $99,778 - $134,699 - $169,622 This position is covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required. Given the financial nature of this position, this position has been defined as a position requiring a credit check. Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a credit background check. SUMMARY: Leads and manages major generation construction projects. Develops, reviews, and maintains project schedule, budget, and performance criteria. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manages construction projects from start to completion * Manages staff of engineers and project support personnel * Acts as lead in negotiating and managing major construction, professional services, material, and equipment contracts * Reports project status including schedule and budget to owners and/or company * Acts as primary interface with operational staff and participant owners * Ensures all requirements and regulations, including permits, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Affirmative Action (AA), and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) laws, are followed in the execution of projects * Leads project decisions involving complex problems and/or issues * Acts as the project focal point for community, regulatory, and political relationships COMPETENCIES: * In-depth knowledge of project management scheduling and cost tracking tools and processes * Extensive knowledge of project/construction management and the utility industry * Knowledge of government laws and regulations and company policies and procedures as they applied to area of responsibility * Proven ability to lead and manage others * Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve complex project issues affecting goals and objectives * Strong interpersonal and leadership skills * Ability to negotiate, administer, and interpret complex business contracts QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with seven to nine years of related experience and/or training working with management, contractors, crafts, and regulators, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Master's degree is preferred. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: * Ability to read and interpret complex engineering information * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents * Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community * Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format * Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: * Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry * Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations COMPUTER SKILLS: * Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY: * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. SCOPE AND IMPACT: * Construction projects are of significant dollar value and importance to the company. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Ability to stand up to 1/3 of the time and to sit or walk up to 2/3 of the time. * Manual dexterity is required. * Ability to talk and listen for long periods of time. * The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. * May be exposed to outside weather conditions, loud noise, and vibrations. * May be exposed to hazards such as: moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, toxic chemicals, and handle bulky material.
