The Plant Technician is responsible for the operation of all plant processing equipment and performing routine basic maintenance in a highly automated chemical facility. In the area of maintenance, Plant Technicians are responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, basic repair, and cleaning of all equipment associated with bioprocessing processes. At times, Plant Technicians may be asked to assist Maintenance Technicians in more technical and complex maintenance procedures. Team members in this position are required to maintain knowledge of the process flow, computerized equipment, and be aware of hazards associated with the process as well as understand and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs). Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work. Plant Technicians must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.

Perform maintenance and basic repairs of plant equipment and document these activities.
Operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant.

Collect and test quality control samples, interpret QA/QC results and make adjustments to optimize plant operations, timely and accurately document results and enter results into our data collection system, PI.

Help keep your plant clean by following the sanitation schedule and completing all tasks as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Plant Technicians and for creating a positive work environment. Team members in this position strive for maximum efficiency in plant operations and support operations through problem solving, adaptation, and working with other departments to correct process problems. The Shift Supervisor plans, directs, and coordinates the operations of the bioprocessing facility by implementing changes as necessary. Team members in this position are also responsible for optimizing plant runtime as well as downtime while ensuring a quality end product.
POET bioprocessing facilities operate on a 24-hour continuous schedule which requires Shift Supervisors to work a 12-hour shift schedule (including, nights, weekends, and holidays) alongside their assigned team. Team member must be available as needed
Supervise plant operations on shift.
Influence and support execution of plant maintenance as developed by the Maintenance Manager.
Assure all daily documentation and required process information is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Make process decisions including shutting plant down if necessary.
Contact the appropriate department manager with problems/concerns; call in additional team members if needed.
Maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant including boilers, cooling towers, and water chemistry.
Develop an understanding of repair and maintenance of plant equipment and may need to ensure documentation of all maintenance activities.
Understand basic electrical troubleshooting.
Strive for maximum efficiency in plant operations, trouble shoot and work with all departments to correct process problems.
Learn and operate the DCS (computer control system) and other processes associated with the plant operations.

A Senior Wastewater Operations Traveling Technician(SWOT) will be trained to operate and
maintain wastewater plants at several locations around the country. The purpose of the
position is to assist with new account startups, temporary operations, and to cover our existing facilities while local operators are out on PTO/sick time. The SWOT will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the wastewater plants they visit, including process changes to meet compliance, troubleshooting processes & equipment, operational management, maintenance (routine, reactive, and preventive), process & compliance sampling, laboratory testing, and writing and distributing a daily shift report. In addition, the Senior Wastewater Operations Traveling Technicians will assist with the startup of new wastewater operating contracts until full-time local operators are hired The SWOT will be responsible for training the newly hired operator(s). The SWOT will communicate with the client and with Veolia's Account Manager regarding the operation during their time at the facility. The SWOT will be required to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time - this can range from 1-2 weeks at a time, all the way up to 1 or more months for certain projects.

Plan, execute, monitor large capital projects.
Work with multiple vendors
Work across the organization to deliver the project.
Identifies, develops, and implements projects and facility modifications to improve safety, compliance and/or profitability performance.
Estimates resources and participants required to achieve project goals. Develops written project plans for organizational approval.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Combustion Engineering, or related field.
8 or more years of hands-on engineering experience in a process-oriented, chemical plant environment with an emphasis on process engineering and project management; familiarity with combustion technology is preferred.
Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DSC) to control manufacturing processes, such as oil refining, petrochemicals, central station power generation, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage manufacturing, cement production, steelmaking, and papermaking is preferred.
Incineration experience and experience in Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDFs) preferred. Experience with safety and environmental compliance as related to chemical operations, including familiarity with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act (CAA) and Clean Water Act (CWA) and OSHA.
Experience with purchasing, contracts and capital projects.
Experience implementing all phases of a project (e.g., concept, scope and budget development, management approval, design and implementation, start-up and closure).
Capable of managing to completion a variety of projects and programs simultaneously and efficiently.
Inquisitive, organized and detail-oriented with the ability to set short-term goals independently and to work without close supervision.
Effective in team environment with strong communications skills and motivation skills and an ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office and terminal applications).
Good written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Availability to be on-call or work occasional off hours as business needs dictate.
