Minimum Qualifications:
Entry to the first level within this classification typically requires one year of verifiable experience using a switchboard and two-way radio communication system in a law enforcement or comparable agency within the last ten years and a high school diploma or equivalent. Essential entry qualifications require the ability to effectively use a phonetic alphabet, speak clearly and concisely, follow oral and written instructions, transfer information accurately, handle a wide range of interpersonal interactions effectively, and learn the use of applicable automated dispatch and law enforcement systems and databases.
Incumbents must have completed or be able to attend and successfully complete the Police Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T) Dispatcher Course. Incumbents who, upon hire, do not possess a P.O.S.T. Dispatcher Certificate also will be required to pass a written test related to essential dispatching skills. Additionally, incumbents must successfully pass supplemental P.O.S.T. requirements for dispatchers such a background check, physical and psychological examinations, drug testing, and related requirements.
a. Must be available to rotate shifts, work nights, weekends, overtime, holidays and emergency call-back.
b. Must have ability to type or word process 45 wpm.
c. Must meet the minimum requirement set for by the California State University System in the Classification and Qualification Standards for a PoliceDispatcher at the Position Skill Level I.
d. Must be able to pass the P.O.S.T background investigation for law enforcement dispatcher position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of clerical experience involving public contacts; or one year of military or civilian public safety (police/fire) experience; or one year experience as dispatcher (or equivalent) operating radio or other communications equipment
A California POST Basic Dispatch certificate or proof of a California POST Entry-Level Dispatcher Selection Test Battery Total T-Score of 55 or higher.

Monitor and track contractors scheduled to work throughout the property. Monitor Parking Systems and Traffic Counters throughout the property. Monitor and calmly react to emergencies and activities throughout the center.
Enforce property Code of Conduct with all patrons, customers, tenants, and employees consistently using the utmost professional courtesy. Properly enforce and follow all policies and procedures as designated in the Public Safety Officer Training Manual.
Prepare accurate and thorough security reports that document information about the incidents that occur on company property, to assist with the evaluation of safety and security of the property. Maintain a neat and orderly security filing system within the Communication Center.

The Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center (NRECC) is the primary public safety dispatch center for the City of Dublin, City of Hilliard, City of Upper Arlington (police and fire), City of Worthington (police and fire), Washington Township, and Norwich Township. Located inside the Dublin Justice Center, NRECC was formed in October 2013 when Dublin began providing dispatching services for Norwich Township Fire and became the primary 9-1-1 answering point for all of Hilliard. Dispatching for Hilliard Police started in January of 2014. Upper Arlington fire joined in October 2017 and Upper Arlington Police in January 2018. City of Worthington Police and Fire joined in 2020.
The nature of this work requires that candidates work irregular hours which include nights, weekends, and holidays. Assignment of shifts is based upon seniority.
First Shift: 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Second Shift: 2:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.

Examples of Duties
Operate a multi-channel radio system to dispatch requests for assistance and resources for law enforcement, fire, medical, and other emergency requests. Coordinate backup support when needed.
Operate a multi-line phone system to process incoming 9-1-1, text-to-9-1-1, TDD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf), and non-emergency calls, record, and dispatch the appropriate resources to the emergency or concern.
Operate a sophisticated workstation comprised of multiple monitors with various mapping, video feeds, computer-aided-dispatch (CAD), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) guide cards, and various other computer-aided resources to collect, verify locations of emergencies, evaluate, process, prioritize, track units, and collate incident information with limited supervision.

Dispatchers must exercise reasonable independent judgment to determine priorities for service response in accordance with established procedures and protocols; coordinate on site activities of safety forces to ensure efficient and effective support services; and notifies and coordinates response with outside agencies as needed, ex: police and fire units, Disaster Management personnel, hospital management and other first responders. Enters, updates, and retrieves information for a variety of different sources, including officers working in the field.
Must operate a variety of communications equipment including multiple channel radio consoles, telephone and computer systems. Monitors various alarm systems and closed circuit cameras at multiple UC Health facilities. Is responsible for monitoring access control systems and building maintenance programs, as well as relaying weather related problems to appropriate personnel.
May work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays to maintain 24-hour, seven day a week coverage of the dispatch function.
Qualifications
Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: Associate's Degree.
APCO Basic Telecommunicator certification is required within one year of hire.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP): If you are an eligible ICTAP applicant you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, displaced Federal employees must be rated at a score of 85 or higher for this position.
