Salary and Benefits Annual Base Salary for newly appointed BPAs varies per grade, as follows: GL-5/GL-7 $49,739 - $89,518 per year Duty location impacts pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in some locations than others. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. Once you join the FDC, there are many career advancement opportunities that progress from entry level as a Correctional Officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major and Colonel. From there, management positions include Assistant Wardens and Wardens. Correctional Officers can join special teams such as Rapid Response Teams, Crisis Response Team, Interdiction Units, K-9 Units, and many other special team opportunities. COMPENSATION: $22.00 Hourly MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be certified as a Correctional Officer in Florida. * Must have an active certification in good standing. * Be at least 18 years of age (no age limit). * Be a United States Citizen. * Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. * Possess a valid driver's license. * Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.
