Position Responsibilities:
The officer will patrol parking lots to ensure compliance with traffic safety policies, including speed limits, pedestrian crossing, and proper parking in designated areas. Warnings, notices, or parking citations will be issued when necessary.
Accuracy in Parking Counts: Ensure accurate data on parking occupancy to support the management of construction projects and ensure that spaces are allocated efficiently. This impacts the timing and success of the construction phases
Traffic Safety: Enforce traffic safety policies within the parking lots, ensuring that vehicles move safely, and that pedestrian pathways are clear and properly maintained
Controls overload of parking lot and influence traffic flow into, out of and through, the parking lot.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalency desirable
Possession of a valid Florida Driver's license with a "good" driving history (i.e. no D.U.I. or felony traffic violations) and no more than 4 points.
Parking revenue collection and traffic control experience preferable

The base salary range for this position is $87,158.54 - $100,736.42. The salary listed above includes a 4% first responder supplement and a $500 bi-weekly aviation supplement. NATURE OF WORK
Under limited supervision, performs general and specialized Police work involving the enforcement of laws and ordinances; protecting life and property; detection and arrest of violators; crime prevention; community services or other specialized assignments; and performs related duties as assigned.
STATE OF EMERGENCY
When normal operations of Town departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration by the Mayor that a state of emergency exists, all employees will be deemed critical by the Town. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work. This is a condition of employment.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Tasks required of those in the position of PoliceOfficer include, but are not limited to:
Patrols assigned area of the Town for the prevention of crime and enforcement of all applicable criminal, traffic and other laws and ordinances.
Responds to calls for service involving crimes such as robberies, assaults, homicides, narcotics, etc. Responds to general public service calls for civil or societal problems.
Secures the scene of a crime, makes arrests and books prisoners.
Prepares reports to accurately document information.
Enforces laws, codes and statutes. Carries out duties in conformance with federal, state, county and Town laws and ordinances.
Investigates reports of criminal activity.
Performs a variety of general and specialized criminal investigations involving property and persons crimes, gathers evidence and preserves crime scene.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Requires active Florida law enforcement certification, or the ability to re-instate within a reasonable time.
Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission Certificate of Compliance in Law Enforcement required.

NATURE OF WORK
This is generalized law enforcement and public safety work in the prevention of crime, protection of life and property, and apprehension of criminal offenders.
An incumbent in this classification of work is responsible for performing tasks of more than average difficulty involving the protection of life and property. After completion of an initial training period, the employee is responsible for enforcing federal, state and local laws, and performing related police activities. Incumbents are involved in either patrolling an assigned area in a radio-equipped vehicle, or performing administrative, communications, public information and/or complaint duties. Under general supervision of a sergeant or other police supervision, the employee is required to exercise initiative and independent judgment as well as tact, courtesy and self-control in performance of duties. The Criminal Justice Testing Center administers the TESTS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE BASIC ABILITIES TEST (C.J.B.A.T.), PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST (PAT), and SWIM TEST to candidates for employment in cooperation with Broward County Chiefs of Police Association. NATURE OF WORK
This classification involves specialized and limited law enforcement and public safety work involving crowd control, traffic control, and the protection of life.
An incumbent in this classification is responsible for performing tasks of more than average difficulty involving the protection of life and property. After completion of an initial training period, the incumbent is responsible for enforcing federal, state and local laws, and performing related police activities. Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant or other designated supervisor, the incumbent is required to exercise independent judgment as well as tact, courtesy and self-control in performance of duties. The incumbent is also expected to make decisions calmly and quickly in emergency or hazardous situations. Reserve PoliceOfficers will be assigned to work various hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. This classification is designated solely as part-time. This is not a full-time position.
Regular Rate: $36.20 per hour (Includes Training)
Special Detail Rate: $52.50 per hour (Based on Assignment)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Participates in crowd control and traffic control for events
* Inspects assigned area as often as possible, giving particular attention to potential crime hazards or situations
* Provides numerous human services, general information, and assistance to the public

Requirements
EDUCATION
* Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a G.E.D. diploma

EXPERIENCE

ASSIGNMENT
* Reserve PoliceOfficers are to be utilized for Special Detail Assignments or other Police Department assignments authorized by the Police Chief or designee.
DISCLOSURES
* Reserve PoliceOfficers shall not be considered as entry-level for regular full-time PoliceOfficer positions and there should be no expectation that Reserve PoliceOfficers will ever become employed as a full-time, regular PoliceOfficer. Incumbents in this classification are not subject to the City pension plan nor are eligible for any City pension benefits. Reserve PoliceOfficers positions are 'at-will' and are not subject to any of the terms included in the Fraternal Order of Police or Police Benevolent Association Collective Bargaining Agreements.
* Incumbents are not permitted to serve in the capacity as a law enforcement officer with any other agency while serving as a Reserve PoliceOfficer with the City of Sunrise.
* Reserve PoliceOfficers are required to work one Event or Assignment per month.
* Reserve PoliceOfficers will not be guaranteed any specific number of hours of work during any given day/week/month and will work a maximum of 24 hours per week. This classification is designated solely as part-time. This is not a full-time position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment:
* Part-time work shift hours vary and may include nights, weekends and holidays. High degree of exposure to potentially hazardous conditions including inclement weather and severe temperatures. Officers may be subject to dangerous and stressful situations.
Physical:
* A pre-employment medical examination and complete background investigation is required
* Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in the pursuit of suspects and/or in crime scene investigations
* Prolonged carrying of articles weighing between 10 to 25 lbs.
* Sitting, standing, or walking for long periods of time
* Occasional squatting, climbing, kneeling, and running
* Ability to operate city issued motor vehicles
Sensory:
* Corrected visual acuity of 20/30 in both eyes; no marked red-green deficiency of color vision and no dimming of red objects; normal depth perception; no significant interference with night vision; no significant loss of peripheral vision; strabismus which is accompanied by double vision and not correctable. This will also include no hearing loss of greater than 46 decibels in the 3,000 cps range.

Paid Time Off
1) PTO = Paid Time Off
o At the department's discretion and approval, regular part-time employees may use PTO.
o PTO may be used for sick or vacation time-off requests.
2) Employee must work a full fiscal quarter before they are eligible for any PTO:

3) PTO earned per fiscal quarter will be earned in accordance with the following accrual table:

4) PTO earned will be calculated and posted to employee's leave accruals on the month following the end of the fiscal quarter.
o Calculation will be based on check dates within a fiscal quarter.
5) Employees may use PTO in four (4) hour increments only.
6) PTO must be requested the business day before requested time off.
7) Employees must use PTO earned in a fiscal year by the end of the following fiscal year or accrued time will be forfeited.
8) There will be no payouts upon separation of service and no cash outs of accumulated time.
9) Any PTO used within a fiscal quarter will not count as time worked for future calculations of any benefit.
10) PTO balances will not transfer with the employee if they go to full-time status.
o Employees that transfer to full-time status are treated as new hires.
o Regular part-time employees will have the ability to request time off in Kronos.
o Regular part-time employees in the Police or Fire Rescue departments will have the ability to request time off in Telestaff.
11) A new PTO code has been set-up in Tyler Munis for payroll processing.
12) Seasonal staff and interns are not eligible to receive PTO.
HOLIDAYS
1) Part-time employees are eligible to earn 4 hours of holiday pay for each official City-observed holiday.
o Currently ten (10) City holidays (4) hours of paid Holidays for a total of 40 hours per year).
o Employees receive four (4) hours of Holiday pay regardless of how many hours they work.
o No look-back period would be applicable.
2) If employee works on a City holiday, the employee will get paid for the actual hours worked plus receive four (4) hours of holiday pay.
3) If an employee is scheduled to work on a City holiday and calls out or fails to show up for work, the employee will not be eligible to receive holiday pay.
4) Holiday pay does not count as time worked.
5) A new PTO code has been set-up in Tyler Munis for payroll processing.
6) Seasonal staff and interns are not eligible to receive holiday pay.
