LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
The PoliceOffice of Public Safety must obtain and retain authority as a special state policeofficer in accordance with Massachusetts General Law c. 22c sec. 63. This position must meet the educational and training academy requirements in order to be certified as a Special State PoliceOfficer as well as POST certification MGL 555 CMR 1.0 This position must meet all the requirements of becoming a Special PoliceOfficer in the Town of Wellesley and Needham. Retention of valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License, Massachusetts Firearm License to Carry Class A is required.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act, which is an individual to which students and employees should report criminal offenses or who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities. A CSA shall report all allegations of Clery Act crimes they receive to the Public Safety Department, so they may be investigated and published in the College's Annual Security and Fire Report.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Appointees to the Police Sergeant of Public Safety position must successfully complete a one-year probationary period. Permanent and continuing appointment is contingent upon successful completion of such training programs as designated by the Chief of Police or their designee.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
