Work Schedule

What You Will Be Doing

Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department invites applications for the position of PoliceOfficer 1/2. This is a training series position that will allow applicants to be hired as a PoliceOfficer 1 or PoliceOfficer 2 based on qualifications.
PoliceOfficer 1: No experience required.
PoliceOfficer 2: One year of experience in law enforcement work.
Current Salary PoliceOfficer 1: $18.58/hr SER
Current Salary PoliceOfficer 2: $19.88/hr SER

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
NOTE:
All classified jobs in State service with policeofficer and wildlife enforcement titles qualify as law enforcement.
Jobs outside State service that will qualify as law enforcement are those performed while commissioned with the power of arrest.
Military police in the armed services are law enforcement; security/guard duty is NOT qualifying.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
