Part-time Description Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA), operator of Syracuse Hancock International Airport, is seeking part-time Airport Police Officers for the police force at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Responsibilities, under the supervision of the Airport Police Captain, include enforcing federal and state laws and local ordinances and maintaining order at Syracuse Hancock International Airport while conducting community policing and routine patrol duties on an assigned shift. We are seeking individuals who are community-service oriented. Part-time candidates must be able to work a regular, recurring schedule of 16-24 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours per week on average. Requirements Thorough knowledge of accepted principles and practices of law enforcement as applied to airport and aviation security practices. Good knowledge of New York State Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law and other relevant state and local laws. Good knowledge of FAA and TSA policies, including 49 CFR Part 1542 and practices governing security at commercial airports. Good knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139 - Certification of Airports Good knowledge of the modern methods and techniques employed in airport safety and security. Proficient in use of a personal computer, and Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficient in use of radio communications technology. Possession of a valid New York State Basic Police Officer Certificate (BPOC). B. 3 years of work experience, or its part-time equivalent, as a police officer or as a peace officer that meets the requirements as outlined in CFR Part 1542.217, or a combination; and, Education: Candidates must be high school graduates or holders of a high school equivalency diploma issued by an education department. Citizenship: Candidates must be citizens of the United States at time of appointment. License: Possession of a valid New York State driver's license at time of appointment. Physical: Candidates must meet the prescribed general physical and medical conditions as stated in the Municipal Police Training Council standards. The physical requirements are removed for provisional candidates with former law enforcement experience and a valid basic police officer certificate, although a standard pre-employment physical is still required. Psychological: Psychiatric and Polygraph examinations may be required of any successful candidate prior to appointment. Moral Character: Candidates must be of a good moral character with no conviction of a felony. Conviction of a misdemeanor or other offense including traffic violation may bar appointment. This is a sworn, armed, law enforcement position where if selected, the candidate will be required to attend a law enforcement academy if NYS certification is not already possessed. The provisional appointment will become permanent upon successfully passing the NYS Civil Service examination in a reachable score for appointment. The work involves responsibility for implementing and maintaining a campus public safety/security program to provide for the protection and safety of persons and property on the campus of Onondaga Community College. The incumbent is responsible for public safety, traffic, and property access control, fire and crime prevention and investigation, documentation and reporting of all incidents and relevant conclusions. The Campus Safety Peace Officer enforces the Laws of the State of New York by virtue of the designation of peace officer by the Onondaga Community College Board of Trustees and is authorized by the Onondaga Community College President to possess and carry a firearm as part of on duty employment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Campus Safety and Security with considerable latitude allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out assignments. Maintains a proper and professional stance in the designated area at the front of the store Act as a visual deterrent to prevent potential loss/dishonesty Review and understand the Store Emergency Response Guide Wear a complete Company approved uniform including a Body Worn Camera Greet customers appropriately, demonstrate courtesy and respect Establish and maintain a position at the front of the store or in a department Respond to customer requests for assistance by referring customers to store management or customer service via a Company issued radio Observe and report any suspicious behavior or critical incidents to LP or store management Perform a closing safety sweep of the store with a member of management Adhere to all Company Policy and Procedure Document required incidents in AIIM Case Management Performs other duties as assigned Who We Are Looking For: You!
