Duties
During the course of their careers, Secret Service Police carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral. Exceptions may apply for those with current or prior service in federal law enforcement positions covered by special retirement provisions. The Secret Service has determined that age is essential to the performance of this position.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:

· Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
· Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
· Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.
If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:
· Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
· Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.

The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.
Other Requirements:
Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (including protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently serving or have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement (non-military) position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or Title 5 U.S.C. 8412(d).

Formal Training: After you are hired, you will be detailed to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six (6) months of intensive instruction in immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement, and USBP-specific operations, driver training, physical techniques, firearms, and other courses. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK
Enforces all federal, state and local laws, including citing and/or arresting law violators.

POSITION SUMMARY

Job Summary

Pursuant to Kansas State Statute 74-5605 , the following criteria must be satisfied by all enrollees at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC). Accordingly, each new PoliceOfficer hired by the Hutchinson Police Department will be evaluated as such to ensure future eligibility for law enforcement certification through KLETC. The specifics listed below will be examined at separate phases of the selection and new hire process including application, selection, pre-employment/post-offer, and post-hire. This list is limited to represent the terms of Kansas State Statute and is not all-inclusive of the requirements set forth by the Hutchinson Police Department.
* Is a United States citizen
* Have been fingerprinted and a search of all local, state and national fingerprint files made to determine whether the applicant has a criminal record
* Not have been convicted of a crime that would constitute a felony under the laws of this state, a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a misdemeanor offense that the commission determines reflects on the honesty, trustworthiness, integrity or competence of the applicant as defined by rules and regulations of the commission,
* Have graduated from a high school accredited by the Kansas state board of education or the appropriate accrediting agency of another state jurisdictions of the commission;
* Be of good moral character sufficient to warrant the public trust in the applicant as a policeofficer or a law enforcement officer.
* Have completed an assessment, including psychological testing approved by the commission, to determine that the applicant does not have a mental or personality disorder that would adversely affect the ability to perform the essential functions of a policeofficer or law enforcement officer with reasonable skill, safety and judgment;
* Be free of any physical or mental condition which adversely affects the ability to perform the essential functions of a policeofficer or law enforcement officer with reasonable skill, safety and judgment; and
* Be at least 21 years old
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

PERMANENT DISQUALIFIERS
In order to be eligible for employment with the Hutchinson Police Department, an applicant must not have any of the automatic disqualifiers in his/her background.
* Conviction of a crime that would constitute a felony under the laws of this state or the United States.
* Conviction of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
* Confirmed history of selling, manufacturing, distributing, or transporting any controlled dangerous substance, narcotic drug, or marijuana in his/her lifetime.
* Conviction of any crime of a sexual nature or that involves acts of dishonesty, to include but not limited to theft, fraud, false police reports, etc. Convictions as a juvenile will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
* Historically or currently listed on any sex offender registry

* If previous law enforcement experience , must not have any issues that would negatively impact courtroom testimony/credibility.
* State law enforcement officer certification denied, permanently revoked, or currently suspended.
* Any pattern of offenses that would tend to diminish or otherwise undermine the public trust in the law enforcement profession

Drug & Alcohol Use
The Hutchinson Police Department will evaluate an applicant's overall pattern and use of drugs and alcohol. If prior usage is believed to be a concerning factor, the applicant will be eliminated, temporarily or permanently, from further consideration. Disqualifiers include the following:
* Use of any controlled dangerous substance or narcotic drug, other than marijuana, within the past 5 years, or has an established pattern of engaging in more than minimal experimentation
* Established pattern of alcohol abuse
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
• Maintains community presence and/or responds to calls related to the protection of life and property, traffic
incidents, and other public safety emergencies; Performs self-initiated patrols consisting of monitoring
roadways, neighborhoods and high crime areas of the City; Observes traffic for violations of local ordinances
and issues citations and/or makes arrests; Investigates and renders assistance at scene of vehicular accidents;
summons ambulances and other law enforcement vehicles.
• Responds to patrol calls which include domestic incidents, burglaries, property crimes, child abuse, juvenile
disturbances, health and welfare assists, alcohol and narcotics violations, civil standby, business and
residential alarms, thefts, traffic accidents, civil protection order/no contact order violations, bomb threats,
hazardous material spills, and other public and life safety incidents.
• Conducts both preliminary and follow-up investigations and collects evidence in disturbances, criminal
incidents, hazardous incidents, vehicle accidents, and deaths; Verbally interacts with witnesses and victims,
suspects, and offenders to obtain information; Conducts examinations of persons, vehicles, premises, or areas
to determine the presence of individuals or illegal activities or articles.
• Determines the existence of probable cause and identifies and takes suspects and offenders into physical
custody, or refers charges for review and prosecution; Takes suspect or offender into custody and delivers
them to appropriate confinement location while maintaining security and safety of individuals being moved
from one location to another; Prepares reports of arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents
observed.
• Accurately prepares and testifies in various criminal, civil and traffic court proceedings; Executes official
documents of the court serving arrest warrants, subpoenas, etc.; Performs court security functions as
assigned.

Prepares accurate and timely documentation into the Kansas Intake/Investigation Protection System (KIPS). This would include documentation of case activities, consumer-based assessments, abuse/neglect/exploitation investigations, findings and required notices, adult service plan, and information gathered during the investigation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK

Job Summary
The primary function of this job is the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances, and the protection of life and property within the City of Hutchinson and surrounding area. Officers work under the direction of the Patrol Sergeant or other higher ranking officers. Duties normally consist of patrol and traffic activities in the city on an assigned shift. Officers may be delegated to assignments in specialized areas such as neighborhood services, community services, criminal investigation services, administration, or other assignments.
The PoliceOfficer is responsible for protecting people and property. He or she patrols assigned areas, responds to calls, enforces laws, makes arrests, issues citations, and occasionally testifies in court cases. Policeofficers make traffic stops, respond to domestic disturbances, and may provide first aid in accident/emergency situations until paramedics arrive.
The ideal candidate is at least 21 years old and is a citizen of the United States. A high school diploma or GED is required, and a degree or additional coursework in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field is preferred. Candidates must successfully complete the required training and probationary period and must have a background investigation, drug test, physical examination, and emotional and psychological fitness examination. A valid driver's license is required.

The Hutchinson Police Department will evaluate an applicant's overall pattern and use of drugs and alcohol. If prior usage is believed to be a concerning factor, the applicant will be eliminated, temporarily or permanently, from further consideration. Disqualifiers include the following:

to determine the presence of individuals or illegal activities or articles.
• Determines the existence of probable cause and identifies and takes suspects and offenders into physical
custody, or refers charges for review and prosecution; Takes suspect or offender into custody and delivers
them to appropriate confinement location while maintaining security and safety of individuals being moved
from one location to another; Prepares reports of arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents
observed.
• Accurately prepares and testifies in various criminal, civil and traffic court proceedings; Executes official
documents of the court serving arrest warrants, subpoenas, etc.; Performs court security functions as
assigned.

Job Purpose and Objectives: Provide a safe environment for the youth to learn socially acceptable behaviors. This is done through supervision of the youth and teaching new ways of dealing with situations and people. Provide physical, medical and emotional care to the youth while they are in the facility. Responsibilities will include maintaining proper supervision, interpersonal relations, and security.

Position Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D., plus three (3) semester hours of college level study in adolescent development, psychology, or a related field or forty-five (45) hours in documented training in child care or child development or One (1) year of experience as a youth care worker or house parent in a facility serving youth of the same age.
Employee is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all certification requirements relative to the position.

Butler Community College is seeking a Campus PoliceOfficer to join our team! Campus PoliceOfficers patrol college grounds, areas, streets, and college buildings as required. Patrolling efforts are determined by policy and the department supervisor which may include patrolling by foot and vehicle. Patrols are designed to maintain safety, deter and prevent crime, uphold the state and local law, and enforce state traffic statutes in a campus environment.
Officers routinely interact with Butler Community College (BCC) community members and other citizens within the jurisdiction of the BCCPD in an appropriate manner to further efforts to fortify public safety, prevent crime, and ensure compliance with BCC policies and regulations and the State of Kansas. Officers complete and create reports related to but not limited to reported incidents, vehicle accidents, and other reported activities.

Required knowledge and skills
A. Must be 21 years of age at time of employment.
B. Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.
C. Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

E. Able to communicate effectively with others.
F. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

I. Must complete the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) Academy within one year of employment. A basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Certified Peace Officer Standards and Training (CPOST) commission is accepted upon employment. Obtaining a recertification from a lapsed or previous Kansas law enforcement certification from the CPOST prior to employment of is also accepted.
Required experience
Prior experience as a Kansas certified law enforcement officer, preferred.
Required educational background
* Minimum of high school graduate; 2 years of college preferred
* Successful completion of the Kansas Basic Law Enforcement Academy, or any law enforcement training academy recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, preferred.
