Dr. Allen Bottorff is an expert in the field of higher education and has been in the business & finance, operations, architecture, engineering, real estate, and construction fields for nearly 25 years. He proudly serves at Polk State College as their Vice President for Business Administration and Finance / Chief Business Officer where he oversees the Business Office, Budget & Finance, Facilities & Plant Operations, Human Resources, Purchasing, Risk Management & Safety, and Public Safety & Security.



Dr. Bottorff is also an editorial review board member for The Community College Journal of Research and Practice, an international journal in the field of higher education. In addition, he holds the rank of Associate Graduate Faculty at Florida Atlantic University where he has successfully taught graduate courses in Community College Curriculum, the History & Philosophy of Higher Education, and the Organization & Administration of Higher Education and was a frequent guest lecturer for graduate courses in Higher Education Business & Finance. Prior to Florida Atlantic University, he taught for eight years as adjunct faculty at Indian River State College for lower division courses in Introduction to Engineering; Hydraulics and Hydrology; and Engineering Analysis.

Prior to coming to Polk State, Dr. Bottorff served as the Vice President for Finance and Administration at Northeast State Community College in Tennessee, and has prominently served in leadership and administrative roles at other public higher education institutions including the University of Central Florida, Valencia College, and Indian River State College. He has held a wide range of responsibilities including auxiliary services, budgeting & finance, facilities & capital planning, risk management, legal & contracts, central receiving, mail & courier services, energy efficiency, law enforcement, code & life safety, and sustainability.

Dr. Bottorff began his professional career and spent over a decade as a professional engineer and client service manager for a mid-sized, engineering firm on the Treasure Coast of Florida.
