Responsibilities The engineer will support maintenance groups on a variety of electrical and electronic systems for a range of manufacturing machinery and related support equipment: Provide troubleshooting expertise to maintenance personnel. Identify opportunities for improvements for safety, maintainability, reliability, and operability and execute small projects to achieve these goals from conception through installation and commissioning. Specify electrical and components to optimize standardization and reliability. Assist in improving and executing the maintenance electrician training program. Manage machine control software applications. Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology. At least three years of hands-on experience performing troubleshooting or engineering related functions with the following: PLC based control systems Three phase power distribution systems. Industrial instrumentation Variable Frequency Drives and induction motors. Skill with creating electrical schematics with AutoCAD. The ability to manage multiple projects while being available to assist maintenance personnel with factory floor downtime issues. The ability to self-motivate and complete independent assignments or components of group projects in a timely manner. The aptitude and desire to be a good student of Poly-America processes, equipment, and procedures. Successfully passing a drug screen is required for this position. The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the business in accomplishment of objectives by participating in the management of day to day execution of major capital and expense projects. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible to ensure all strategies, capital planning, engineering, procurement, and construction is done in the safest and cost-effective manner and assuring that capital projects comply with all government and company standards, policies, and regulation. Essential Functions * Ensure all EHS regulations and procedures are incorporated into managing projects. This includes but not limited to contractors, vendors, and consultants. * Establish detailed project plans and metrics, work plans, schedules, resource plans and status reports. Identify project risk/gaps and create risk mitigation plans. Emphasis will be on HSE planning and compliance for capital projects. * Analysis of process & design engineering, optimization, preparation of PFD's and P&ID's, technology packages, basis of design documents, basic design packages, equipment specifications, capital and operating costs estimates and SOP's. * Provide project leadership, work direction, and feedback. Influence the work of others to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met. * Communication and reporting status to executives and all other key stakeholders e.g., Status Reports, Executive Briefings, Cost Reporting etc. * Provide Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) on selected business processes to assemble or provide input into the business case, including process improvement recommendations on quality, delivery, and cost. * Negotiating supply and service contracts with 3rd parties. * Providing technical support in solving issues in an integrated cross-functional team environment. * Supervision of 3rd party engineering contractors and construction contractors. * Provide analytical solutions to operational and maintenance problems. * Prepare specifications for the procurement of materials and equipment. * Prepare conceptual and detailed designs for process/control modifications and new technology. * Manage capital and major maintenance projects including schedule cost control, manage installation and commissioning. * Prepare contract documents and contract administration. * Carry out equipment inspections and surveys as assigned. Duties & Responsibilities * Support manufacturing to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives for the facility. * Participate in safety incident investigations and carryout the implementation of corrective actions. * Partner with operations and process engineering to identify opportunities to implement new technologies that improve reliability and operational efficiency. * Contribute to improving operations as a cross-functional team member in Continuous Improvement projects and kaizen events. * Proactively investigate the daily controls functionality by monitoring Trends data and on-the-floor observation of machine uptime and work with process engineers to make sure all corrective actions and documentation takes place to avoid downtime. * Lead programming related capital projects from concept to completion. Be able to successfully identify, develop, justify, plan, implement, and transition projects to operations. * Monitor and manage electrical component obsolescence. Develop and execute plans based on part availability and risk to upgrade components, drives, and software. * Design and engineer machine and equipment modifications and upgrades with precision and accuracy, and without unreasonable interruptions to manufacturing. * Assist in the development and support proactive maintenance program, through creation of recurring inspections, PM tasks, and work instructions. * Develop and program embedded systems, control algorithms, and software interfaces using programming languages for machines and automated equipment. * Identify, analyze, and resolve issues in electromechanical systems. Work closely with maintenance team for the same. * Assist Facility maintenance with the on-going operation and maintenance of general plant utilities and services. * Maintain orderly project files, control system changes logs and continuously update equipment documentation.
