Mr. Emery joined the company in 2006 as the Chief Financial Officer and he has more than 18 years of financial management experience in the healthcare industry. Before joining Poplar Healthcare, he held several senior positions with Baptist Memorial Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee. Most recently he was the Chief Financial Officer for Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Before his tenure at Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown, he was the Controller for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, Mississippi. Prior to Baptist, his experience included accounting positions at a home health agency, a specialty hospital, and a public accounting firm. Mr. Emery holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Mississippi University for Women and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Carlson joined Poplar Healthcare in 2011 and serves as the company’s Chief Development Officer. Mr. Carlson has over 20 years of industry experience and has extensive expertise in general management, product development, marketing and sales management. Previously, Mr. Carlson served as Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for NeoGenomics Laboratories, a cancer genetics specialty laboratory. Prior to NeoGenomics, Mr. Carlson was President and CEO of Calgenex Corporation, a nutraceutical and personal care products company developing products for the cardiovascular market. Mr. Carlson began his career at DIANON Systems where he held senior positions in sales, marketing, business development and research and development. Mr. Carlson is co-inventor on five U.S. patents involving percent free-PSA and the diagnosis of prostate cancer and four pending patents around various drug compositions. He has authored several scientific papers in the areas of oncology, urology and pathology. He holds a B.S. degree in Kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Mr. Sweeney joined Poplar Healthcare in 2010 and assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in May, 2014. With over 25 years experience in the healthcare diagnostic and information technology industries, he has held a variety of executive leadership positions. Previously, Mr. Sweeney was Senior Vice President for Modis, Inc. managing multiple operations; including the key strategic business practices and national accounts programs. Prior to Modis, he worked for Neuromedical Systems, a diagnostic pathology company, serving first as the Vice President of Sales, North America and then as Vice President of International Business Development. Mr. Sweeney began his career in healthcare with DIANON Systems serving in a variety of sales and management roles. Mr. Sweeney is a graduate of Gettysburg College earning a B.A. in Economics. He also served five years as a U.S. Army officer in the Corps of Engineers.
