Carver Center company history timeline

1943

The Port Chester Carver Center has been serving the community’s children and families since 1943.

1948

Ridley was responsible for the incorporation of the organization as a non-profit organization in the fall of 1948.

1967

In early 1967, the property (commonly known as Carver Center and Bellemeade Park) was acquired by the city of Evansville; Carver relinquished the promotion, organization, and supervision of recreation activities to the Recreation Commission of the City of Evansville.

1968

In 1968, Carver began its Day Care Center in the basement of New Hope Baptist Church.

1977

Under the ownership and management of the City of San Antonio (CoSA), the Carver was renovated and reopened in 1977, as the Carver Community Cultural Center.

1988

James M. Landers retired as Executive Director on December 31, 1988.

1989

In 1989, his successor was David Wagner who still serves as Executive Director.

1992

She relocated to San Antonio in 1992.

1999

Orioles extend winning streak to 9, longest since 1999, and reach .500 with 4-2 come-from-behind win over Cubs

2006

On November 1, 2006 she opened her office, Cheryl E. Davis, DMD, PLLC, Family Dentistry, 210 Chestnut Street, San Antonio, TX 78202 in Historic Ellis Alley Enclave, San Antonio, Texas.

2007

In 2007, under the leadership of Superintendent Doctor Joe Hairston, the Board of Education of Baltimore County unanimously signed a resolution to recognize and acknowledge Carver Center by its formal and official name: George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology.

2015

For the Carver Theater, in 2015, she also directed “A Tribute to Maya Angelou: A Celebration of Poetry, Literature, Music & Dance,” a regional showcase featuring an array of performers and politicians.
