Weeks Marine port engineer job description

The Port Engineer manages all maintenance, repairs, and modifications for assigned equipment. Ensures assigned personnel and equipment are compliant with regulatory agencies and company policies.
Essential Job Functions

* Establish and implement preventative and routine maintenance procedures
* Prepare and submit maintenance and capital budgets for assigned equipment
* Prepare specifications, scheduling, and management of shipyard periods
* Supervision of all maintenance personnel (including vessel personnel when in port)
* Approve/generate requisitions for spare parts and vendor services.
* Maintain spare parts inventories
* Approve/generate work orders, change orders and AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure)
* Frequent equipment and jobsite visits and inspection
* Ensure compliance of company policies
* Remain on call during non-working hours
* Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* 10+ years of experience in related field
* Associate degree or higher in a marine or engineering discipline preferred
* Technical understanding of construction and maintenance of marine vessels
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings
* Proficient skills in standard office software packages
* 3+ years Supervisory experience
* Ability to work flexible schedule with additional hours as needed
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively to various project locations
* This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language and understanding of hand signals

Required Certifications or Licenses

* Driver's license with a clean driving record

Physical Requirements

* Must successfully complete a post-offer physical and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Check
* Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels
* Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend, or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders that have capacity limits of 300 lbs.
* Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts, up to 50 lbs. unassisted

Centerline Logistics port engineer job description

Schedule, coordinate, and perform vessel repair & maintenance, coordinate purchasing of parts and repair services and supplies, schedule routine maintenance requirements for tugs and barges. Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures. Keep tugs and barges in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Keep accurate records of all maintenance performed using company software program.

+ Schedule, coordinate, and perform flow of work based on customer orders, establish priorities and availability of personnel, equipment, and resources.

+ Keep records of maintenance performed, hours used, fuel burned, and report to different funding agencies.
+ Schedule routine maintenance of tugs and barges.

+ Manage oil analysis program.

+ Coordinate the purchasing of parts and services for repair and maintenance projects.

+ Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards, regulatory Compliance and AWO RCP program.

+ Compile and prioritize worklists for each vessel for both routine and major maintenance (drydock periods).

+ Track actual costs of repair and projects against budget.

+ Perform emergency repairs on vessels as required.

+ Perform related duties as assigned.

+ Perform in the company Spill Management team as assigned.

+ Experience maintaining tugs and barges.

+ Two (2) years of experience on tugs, tankers, oil barges or equivalent military experience.

+ U.S. Coast Guard license on a Merchant Mariner's Document strongly preferred.

+ Knowledge of oil transportation and marine industry preferred.

+ Knowledge of tugs and barge maintenance systems and equipment.

+ Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions.

+ Ability to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.

+ Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.

+ Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.

+ Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.

+ Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.

+ Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.

+ Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
