    **Some of what you'll be doing:** _Applications will be reviewed regularly, and interviews may be conducted prior to the application close date._ As a Police Recruiting Specialist, you will lead all recruitment activities for the Port of Seattle Police Department, working closely with commissioned and non-commissioned staff on the recruitment of officers and civil service personnel. You will be stationed within the police department, and connect talent acquisition strategy directly to operational law enforcement needs. You will also manage candidate outreach, recruitment events, civil service hiring compliance, and long-term workforce planning. + You will ensure recruitment efforts advance Port-wide equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives, while serving as the primary liaison between Human Resources (HR), Police leadership, and the Civil Service Commission. + You will collaborate with the Police recruitment team, Labor Relations, and HR to align civil service processes, outreach, and selection. + You will oversee job postings, testing, oral boards, and eligibility lists and serve as the main contact for candidates and train panel members on interview techniques, evaluation criteria, and bias mitigation. + You will lead targeted outreach to attract diverse, mission-driven candidates, focusing on underrepresented communities. + You will build partnerships with academies, military bases, schools, and community groups and represent the Port Police at events and co-host informational sessions on careers and the hiring process. + You will proactively source passive candidates through associations, networks, LinkedIn, and other platforms. You will also leverage new technologies and digital tools to expand reach, streamline communication, and enhance candidate engagement. + You will manage full-cycle police recruitment in partnership with the Senior Recruiter for Public Safety, Talent Acquisition (TA) Manager and TA Lead, including coordination with public safety testing vendors and the Civil Service Commission. + You will oversee and refine recruitment workflows, oral boards, and assessments to ensure efficiency, transparency, and a positive candidate experience. + You will ensure all processes comply with civil service rules, (RCWs), collective bargaining agreements, and internal policies, supporting equitable and lawful hiring practices. + You will support the Civil Service Commission and Police Department by interpreting and revising rules, coordinating with Legal and Labor Relations, maintaining records, and occasionally serving as secretary as needed. + You will track recruitment data to evaluate outreach effectiveness and identify improvement areas. You will also share regular updates with HR, police leadership, and civil service partners. + You will collaborate with the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and the Police Department to support implementation of policing assessment recommendations. **Who you are:** + **Experienced** - You have five (5) years of full cycle recruiting experience in law enforcement or public safety, including supporting workforce planning efforts, designing recruitment strategies, candidate outreach efforts, and facilitating all levels of the public safety hiring process. As in-house counsel to a regional transit authority, we advise the governing elected board and agency staff on complex legal matters and develop strategies and creative solutions that balance potential legal risks with agency and public interests. We work with elected officials, the Federal Transit Administration, engineers, transportation planners, and other dedicated agency staff to plan, design, build, and operate the region's high-capacity transportation system. Under the direction of the General Counsel, the senior legal counsel provides legal advice and counsel to the Agency on a variety of matters, focusing primarily on municipal law and real estate, including eminent domain and complex real estate transactions. Other desirable experience includes negotiation of intergovernmental agreements, MTCA cost-recovery litigation, utility relocation coordination, relocation matters, and other duties as needed. This position is intended to complement our existing team of 16 attorneys in a collegial and collaborative work environment. The position involves a municipal real estate law focus and requires at least eight years of relevant transactional and/or litigation experience. This work may be performed on energized or de-energized equipment either in a shop environment or on customer premises. * Use meter data collection systems to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve multifaceted issues related to meter installations, the AMI network and infrastructure, billing inquiries, and power quality issues. * Maintain an active knowledge and understanding of proprietary software and associated hardware. * Investigate customer concerns related to metering such as meter mixes and high bill investigations. * Disconnect and reconnect single phase meters, three phase meters, and CT services. * Perform duties in the meter shop including instrument transformer and meter acceptance testing, building and auditing primary metering equipment for both overhead and underground installations, refurbishing CTs, and managing inventory for Service Center meter shops to ensure a sufficient supply of metering equipment. * Complete work orders in a timely manner in accordance with standard work practices. The journeyman meterman must be able to perform these and other duties as needed: * Assist area foreman as necessary. * May perform the duties as a backup foreman on a voluntary basis; complying with article 2.23 of CBA. * Participate in new work processes, assess new technologies, and test new tools and equipment as they pertain to residential and commercial metering as needed. * Respond to call-outs during non-core hours including storm response. * Train junior team members such as meter testers and apprentices. * Understand and enforce local codes, regulations, and company construction standards. * Performs similar and incidental duties as assigned. This is a highly technical position, which requires continuing education and skill development to meet changing technology and needs. This position responds to emergencies and callouts, and contains some irregular work schedules and overtime hours to support customer and operational needs.
