Two years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement. Some experience related to custodial work. Cleans restroom toilet bowls, sinks, walls, etc. Assists in securing the facility before exiting, including turning out lights and locking doors and windows. Watches the building to prevent vandalism or damage by persons authorized or unauthorized to be in the facility or on the grounds. Reports the need for repairs to facility fixtures or custodial equipment to proper authorities for necessary repairs. Operates electrical custodial equipment safely and effectively and cleans this equipment after use. Safely and effectively works with different chemicals such as detergents, disinfectants, and sanitizers. Shampoos carpeting by various methods such as bonnet, encapsulation, steam, etc. Spot cleans carpets as necessary. Performs heavy lifting while moving equipment, chemicals, furniture, etc., as necessary. Maintains school grounds by removing paper, cans, and other trash from the school grounds on a daily basis. Clears building sidewalks by sweeping and/or removing snow for activities/evening access. Clears a path to dumpster for safety of trash removal as needed. Physical /Mental Demands The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. This person is responsible for housekeeping and custodial duties at KIC Facilities. Duties/Responsibilities: Carry out directives of the Leasing Manager or his/her designee. Provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and congenial atmosphere for building users. Vacuum all areas, which include areas such as hallways, landing, stairways, and arctic entrances as much as needed. Sweep and mop all tiled, rubber floors including arctic entrances and Laundry Room as much as needed. Clean the laundry room, including washers, dryers & floors, weekly. Clean cove bases, trims, handrails, emergency lights, and fires extinguisher cases throughout building. Spot clean wall surfaces, particularly around handrails, doorknobs, and empty all trash, replace with liners, and dispose in dumpsters located outside of the facilities as needed. Dispose of garbage. Complete work orders as needed (cleaning requests). Speak and listen, both over the phone and in person to customers and co-workers. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma/GED. Prior residential or commercial custodial experience preferred. Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to report for duties on an on-call/relief basis. Physical Demands: Required to work standing up, walk, use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and cleaning supplies.
