Also measures participation level and plans for optimal involvement * Collaborates with other HSL fitness staff to stay up to date with current trends, new exercise equipment and current research * Assists or makes recommendations on new equipment purchases and other budget expenditures * Oversees, maintains and coordinates the maintenance of fitness facilities * Develops measurable criteria for residents to understand the value of the programs * Creates and expands innovative fitness programs to meet the needs of the residents and fitness trends. Qualifications * Extensive knowledge of exercise equipment and safety practices * Able to accomplish all responsibilities with little supervision * Works as a team member by proactively working to meet resident needs * Exhibits a professional and enthusiastic demeanor when assisting residents, their family and friends * Demonstrates an ability to effectively communicate with all residents * Pays attention to own and others safety when carrying out responsibilities * 2-5 years' experience in the fitness field working with seniors * Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field * ACSM Fitness certification preferred * Must have compassion for and a desire to work with a senior population. * Excellent organization and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to innovate, think strategically and conceptually, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle difficult situations. * Must be a professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious, and results-oriented individual. Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and sound judgment.
