Functional:
Assists in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs using a graded approach and determining when SAT-based training is required.
Develops, revises, and maintains lesson plans, training materials, and supporting documentation to meet project and site needs.
Coordinates with subject matter experts to identify appropriate training content and instructional materials.
Facilitates classroom, virtual, and computer-based training sessions and administers and grades examinations as applicable.
Supports development, implementation, and maintenance of e-learning courses and self-study materials within the learning management system.
Monitors training effectiveness, reviews feedback and implements revisions to ensure continued alignment with procedures and performance needs.
Collects, maintains, and transfers training records in accordance with established records requirements.
Supports the training department, including the computer-based training center and onboarding of new employees.
Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with approved safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations and actively participates in Safety Work Groups.

This role also recommends and implements improvements to environmental health and safety processes, coordinates with engineering and operations team to eliminate and/or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations that may lead to human injury, environmental excursion, and/or property damage. This role will report to the Director of Technology.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Performs professional EHS work to protect or improve air, land and water resources in order to provide a clean and healthy environment. The work requires a professional knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques concerned with facilities and systems for controlling pollution and protecting the quality of resources and the environment.
Develop and implement site-specific Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and processes including: Emergency Preparedness and Fire Protection, chemical handling and safety, Safety Risk Assessments and Safe Working Procedures , EHS Training, Ergonomics, Contractor Safety, Environmental programs (air, stormwater, wastewater, waste), Crisis Management, and Industrial Hygiene (IH).
Apply professional competence with specialized knowledge of chemistry and biological science. Protect or improve the natural resources of air, land and water to provide a clean and healthy environment.
Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional knowledge, skills and abilities.
Advises on structural safety requirements based on failure mode analysis of such factors as fatigue, stability, stress, concentration and creep; develop and apply methods for the safe installation and use of various equipment, storage, and piping systems for process chemicals and compressed gases; evaluate protective equipment or safety devices for machines and redesign machines and plant equipment to eliminate occupational hazards; and/or review proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted operations principles and practices and recommend technical changes as needed.
Apply knowledge of psychological and physiological factors to assist in the design of safety features and controls, compensating for the possibility of human errors in the operation of machinery and equipment.
Investigate, measure and evaluate environmental conditions and carrying out relevant research, development, planning, design, advisory and related activities to improve employee and environmental safety.
Interface with regulatory agencies and divisional personnel to direct environmental efforts in the divisions. Participate in annual environmental compliance audits. Provide environmental guidelines and assistance in training at the divisional level as required. Interact with outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Create and implement the site's EHS/PSM strategy aligned with company expectations to achieve best-in-class performance.
Drive improvements in compliance processes, employee training, and EHS performance.
Conduct compliance and framework audits, and reviews necessary to meet company and local compliance requirements to reduce risk liability
Train employees and contractors/service companies in basic EHS awareness and PCT rules, and on job-specific risks.
Drive injury prevention initiatives focused on world-class health and safety performance.
This role can utilize advanced mathematical methods and techniques; safety-related elements of the physical sciences, ergonomics, psychology and physiology; and safety principles, standards, practices and analytical techniques. As well as an understanding and the ability to utilize pertinent aspects of chemistry, biological sciences and public health that pertain to the control or elimination of pollutants.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or engineering from an accredited university.
7+ years of EHS experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
Experience with environmental reporting with air, waste water, storm water & waste.
Hazmat operator's certification 40+ hours or ability to get.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, contractors and the general public.
Superior communication skills and can present his/her ideas in a clear, concise manner; one who can adapt his/her communication style as needed.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, project management, problem-solving, change management and influencing skills.
Ability to lead and influence colleagues without direct authority.
Consensus builder with strong persuasion skills.
