This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. This is an overnight position. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices. + Provides a safe work environment for all personnel. + Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations. + Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation and other personnel as may be necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, sanitation, safety and warehouse services. + Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times. + Responsible for ingredient usage and all other department costs. + Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (i.e. timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.). + Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner. + Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production. + Keeps operations manager informed on operating and/or employee problems, quality, safety and/or control costs of production. + Maintains consistent communications and monthly department meetings. + Provides a safe working environment. + Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. + Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products. + Ensures regulatory compliance at all times. + Perform other duties as assigned. \#firstinpeople **Qualifications** **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:** + Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. + 2+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry. + Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and teaming skills. + Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little/no supervision. + Must have strong organizational skills and ability to do multi-functional tasks. + Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required + Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. + Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. + Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management. + Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. + Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. Communication Skills: Must be able to speak clearly, listen and understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly in writing and understand the same. Computer Skills: Must have basic PLC experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook at the intermediate level. Experience with SAP a plus. Coach employees in proper techniques and follow through to ensure there is adequate understanding to perform tasks assigned. * Participate in pre-operational inspection. Train personnel doing pre-operational inspection to insure uniform standards. * The ability to write and review SSOP's, SOP's, and Standard Work. * Train all employees in proper chemical usage and handling. * Proactively solve concerns in regard to GMP, SSOP, SMS, and Process Control programs. * Performs inspections of plant, stored equipment, and environment to assess cleanliness. Recommends changes and opportunities as needed. * Participate in the hiring/staffing of sanitation and quality personnel. Train all new personnel in the correct safety and cleaning methods. Conducts required training for safety and procedure review. * Work with the Operations Supervisor to maintain a Master Sanitation Schedule for the entire facility and grounds. Coordinate and execute weekend and non-daily cleaning with a cross functional team of production/sanitation, and maintenance members. * Participates in 3rd party audits. Work with plant management to identify and correct quality and sanitation concerns ensuring we meet customer and regulatory expectations. * Supports investigation and root cause analysis to improve process performance. * Participate in customer concerns root cause analysis and other pertinent current events. * Participate in the approval of new equipment, changes in design, and SSOP development for new equipment. Establish and execute cleaning requirements for facility construction plans. * Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as well as Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. * Develop, or provide assistance in the development of, corporate and plant quality systems, including the areas of sanitation, quality, and operations. * Maintain and monitor all pre-requisite systems within the facility to ensure that all required documentation is consistently and accurately completed. * Fill in as needed for Quality Supervisors and technicians. * Lead all micro investigations from a sanitation perspective. * Participate in plant wide GMP audits and training. * Perform food safety and sanitation audits to ensure compliance with company, government, and customer specifications. * Maintain a working knowledge of all plant processes to aid in problem solving and internal auditing. * Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. * Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * 3+ years of leadership experience within a food facility. * Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations. * Skills in identifying sanitation problems and providing workable solutions. * Able to organize and prioritize work to achieve proper sanitation. * Ability to build a highly effective team.
