These binaural systems are important for selective attention and may be disrupted by early life conductive hearing loss and contribute to central auditory processing disorder. The postdoctoralresearcher will support projects under the leadership of Bradley Winters, PhD using advanced in vivo and ex vivo neuroscience methods in rodent animal models. Techniques used include whole-cell and dual dendritic-somatic patch-clamp, multiphoton imaging, and RNA sequencing.
Candidates should have a PhD in neuroscience or related field and excellent communication skills. Experience in electrophysiology and rodent animal models is highly desired. The position requires working with rodents including surgical procedures and euthanasia as well as a strong work ethic and engagement with relevant scientific literature.

Part Time Contract Role | Products Researcher in Mason OH 4 months contract with possible extension 20-25 hours/week Floss PR Research Specialists to focus on consumer understanding and method development for floss products. In this role you will translate consumer insights into consumer relevant methods that can be used to test current and new products with a goal of measuring product performance across a number of measures. You will also be responsible for product score carding, demo development and, to a lesser extent, creating and executing small-scale consumer studies if needed to validate methods.
Important Responsibilities:
In this position you will, create new methods that are consumer relevant and focused on the most critical product parameters for both manual floss and floss picks. You will test new technologies and score card performance to inform both product development and method refinement. You will refine methods in partnership with PR, Sensory, Analytical, and Process & Formulation.
The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker, capable of bridging the gap between consumer insights and technical method development in the floss product category. This role is essential for driving innovation, enhancing user satisfaction, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. Desired skills include:
Skills to Have and/or Expect to Learn:
Method Development and Innovation -Develop and optimize methods for floss that are grounded in consumer insights and focuses first on performance (cleaning, comfort), usability (dispensing, feel in hand, etc.) and other benefits of interest (i.E. Flavor). Candidate should have some experience in method development.
Support technology development by independently conducting technical testing and when needed, create minimum viable prototypes (MVPs) to vet hypothesis. This work involves using creativity and problem-solving skills to assess product performance, facilitating rapid iterative testing, and evaluating key product attributes to determine the effectiveness of technologies, all while producing reliable and reproducible results that meet project objectives.
Consumer Insights -Ability to analyze consumer behaviors and identify drivers that should be included in methods. Ability to design and execute qualitative and/or quantitative tests to gather the needed insights to inform product development. Ability to analyze and interpret data using statistics.
Demo Development -Experience creating engaging demos that effectively communicate product benefits and features to stakeholders, consumers, etc. Is not a requirement but will be learned on the job if the candidate does not yet have this skill.
Timing: Next 1-3 months ideal, includes timing for identification and transition. The team is currently stretched across all initiative and capability with no capacity for this type of effort.

Holden Arboretum Internship Opportunity: The Research department seeks several Summer Research Interns. Research Interns will spend the summer conducting research at Holden Forests & Gardens (HF&G) within the Arboretum campus' 3,600 acres of forested land, extensive living plant collections, and high-tech laboratories. Types of skills learned over the summer may include, for example: plant and insect identification; microbial isolation and culturing; extracting, amplifying, and analyzing DNA; thermal and spectral phenotyping, micro-controllers for environmental monitoring. Interns will also learn about experimental design, data analysis in R, and science communication. Interns may work with other Holden Forests & Garden Departments, with opportunities for cross-training. In addition, all members of the Holden Forests & Gardens' (HF&G) intern cohort will have the chance to participate in professional development, such as workshops, scientific lectures, networking, and field trip experiences.
