Purpose:
The Postdoctoral Researcher will perform research in microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip, and organ-on-a-chip systems in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory. The project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in microbial pathogenesis, environmental microbiology, and bioinformatics. The candidate is expected to work together with other graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the laboratory, publish results in journals, write project reports, and assist with proposal preparation. The Research Technician II supports team-based research in nutritional immunology and metabolic processes. The selected candidate will conduct independent research in this area but will also be offered to collaborate with Dr. Peterson on projects regarding AI ethics. In addition to this, the Postdoctoral Research Associate may have the opportunity to teach a course in Texas A&M's acclaimed undergraduate engineering ethics program and contribute to the organization of programming associated with the Bovay Endowed Chair of History and Ethics of Professional Engineering, such as an annual Bovay workshop. This position will help promote the areas of research and teaching supported by the Bovay Endowment.
This is a one-year appointment renewable for a second year. Because all or a portion of the salary may be funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment are contingent upon the availability of these funds in the future.

* Assist in operationalizing the civil engineering structural teaching and research lab with guidance from the NCIT Director..
* Participate in seminars, workshops, and outreach events to support personal growth and NCIT's professional development goals and objectives.
* Performs other duties as assigned to assist the NCIT director and the research team.
Required Education and Experience:
* Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related transportation field or discipline.
* No prior experience required.

* Strong knowledge and demonstration of skills with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
* Ability to work independently, multitask, and work cooperatively with others to contribute to team-based initiatives.

* Demonstrated experience in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.
* Experiences with AutoCAD products, MATLAB, Python, and others are highly desired.
* Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams of faculty, staff, and students.
* Adaptability to a fast-paced, evolving research environment.
