Differentiate iPSCs to retinal pigment epithelial cells (RPE) to develop an iRPE patch for a phase I clinical trial to treat "dry" age related macular degeneration.
Update and validate SOPs related to CD34 expansion, iPSC culturing, and RPE differentiation
Manage a day to day operation of GMP facility
Maintain iPSC colonies and freeze their early passages.
GMP and aseptic culturing of iPCSs and differentiation of patient iPSCs into Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and maintenance of those RPE cultures. This work will include:
Preparing media, supplements, and reagents needed cell culture work.
Maintaining the cell culture room biosafety level 2 standards and maintaining aseptic conditions in cell culture flow hoods, incubators, and prepare sterile tools needed for work with cell cultures.
The cell culture maintenance work will require working for short periods of times on the weekends and some holidays.
Work to characterize the iPSC colonies for their pluripotency. This will require:
Immunostaining of iPSCs, preparing RNA and cDNA from iPSCs, and Performing qRT-PCR assays.
Additionally they will perform three germ layer assay based functional characterization of iPSCs. This work will also include any cell types that act as control for his iPSC work.
Prepare regulatory documents for FDA and technology transfer
Coordinate transfer of lab-technology to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP suite)
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with the Contract Research Organization (CRO) in relation to the cell therapy project.

Biomanufacturing Researcher

Position Summary
SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Biomanufacturing Researcher to support our Aberdeen Research Operation. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* Execute and optimize protocols for the preparation of microbially-produced biomaterials at up to 25L fermentation scales.
* Plan and execute workflows for microbial cultivation at varying culture scales and forms using sterile techniques in up to a BSL2 laboratory setting, followed by the recovery and purification of the biomaterial product.
* Conduct biomaterial post-processing and characterization steps, which may require coordinating with facility personnel.
* Conduct experiments to understand biological behavior.
* Design and execute experiments that implement various techniques for direct and indirect observation of microbial behavior, particularly biomaterial production and properties, and harnessing behavior for precision material assembly.
* Experiments may use microscopy, fluorescence analysis via multi-well plate reader or flow cytometry, and enzymatic or molecular assays.
* Agents for the functionalization, immobilization, fixation, or entrapment of cells or biomaterial product may be required within the experiments to advance the research goals.
* Set up and maintain microbial cultures in specified environments and scales using sterile technique, autoclaving equipment, nutrient broth and agar plate preparation, inoculation, culture management, biohazardous waste disposal, and preparation of frozen stocks.
* Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch records to execute production processes
* Preparation and safe handling of hazardous chemicals that may have corrosivity, flammability, and toxicity risks, including liquids with acidic and alkaline pH, organic solvents, and others.
* Use of equipment for materials processing (freeze-drying, other) and analytical instrumentation (FTIR, SEM, other).
* Optimize protocols that use microbes in combination with material or chemical agents for their functionalization, fixation, immobilization, or entrapment.
* Comply with policies on record-keeping and distribution limits for data and technical information.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and product quality
* Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, and implement corrective actions
* Prepare and present presentations and written documents summarizing efforts
Minimum Qualifications of Biomanufacturing Researcher
Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related field related field and 3+ years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered. * Experience in a biomanufacturing or bioprocessing environment
* Knowledge of cell culture and biomaterial processing techniques
* Familiarization with the use of analytical instrumentation and processing equipment

* Familiarity with quality control techniques, including cell counting, RNA and DNA quality assessment, and cell morphology analysis.

Summary of Position
As a member of the Protein Science team, this individual will set up transfections to express proteins in mammalian cells followed by their purification and characterization to support the Biologics discovery pipeline.
Job duties
Culture of mammalian cells in suspension following aseptic techniques and cell-line specific protocols.
Transient transfection of cell lines or expansion of stable cell pools, from 3 ml - 10 L scale, to express proteins of interest. Monitor and optimize culture conditions to maximize protein quality and expression.
Protein purification from milligram to gram scale using semi-automated FPLC systems.
Analytical characterization of purified proteins to support research projects for drug discovery.
Collect, analyze, and summarize experimental data in electronic lab notebook for archiving and sharing.
Maintain lab and lab equipment in optimal functioning condition. Report any problems to supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Associate Scientist II
Bachelor's degree in Biology or Biochemistry or a related field of study with a minimum of 2 years of bench-related experience
Scientist I
Bachelor's degree in Biology or Biochemistry or a related field of study with a minimum of 3 years of bench-related experience
or
Master's degree in Biology or Biochemistry or a related field of study. Laboratory experience gained through undergraduate coursework, graduate research, or an internship is required. A minimum of 1 year of bench-related experience, strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfections, maintaining cell lines, etc. with meticulous sterile technique and lab practices.
Experience with recombinant protein purification and analytical characterization (CE or SDS-PAGE, SEC).
Experience with experimental design and execution with minimal supervision.
Experience with standard lab software for data analysis (MS Excel, Prism, etc.). Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Good verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with other team members.
Willingness to work on occasional weekends.
Preferred Experience
Experience with antibody purification using automated FPLC system.
Experience with quantitative assays (BLI Octet, ELISA, etc.).

Additional Information
The annual rate of pay for the Associate Scientist II position ranges from $67,200 - $102,500. The annual rate of pay for the Scientist I position ranges from $84,400 - $128,800. For non-exempt roles, and according to applicable regulations, there may be the possibility for overtime pay. This role is eligible for the Company's discretionary bonus and discretionary equity incentives. Eligible employees may participate in the Company's benefits programs, including medical / dental / vision / prescription coverage, employee wellness resources, 401(k) plan with employer match, access to an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, (ESPP), paid time off & paid parental leave benefits, and disability benefits.
The annual pay rate range is described in good faith, and the Company believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. The Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and this range may be modified in the future. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable under the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans. The Mandarin Publicly Available Information (PAI) Research and Translation analyst will discover, collect, and translate target language PAI pertaining to science and technology (S&T) topics of strategic significance. You will focus specifically on S&T topics and associated document translation, as prioritized by ONI.
Responsibilities
+ Translate publications in target language and other publicly available information while ensuring that the translated material maintains a logical and appropriate flow.
+ Perform first line analysis on findings that are in line with ONI priorities in a format that is identified by the Government customer.
+ Maintain production pace of 1 to 4 pages per business day.
+ Create and maintain list of S&T-related native language terms.
+ Perform cross-domain transfer of documents to destination location determined by Government.
+ Perform routine research to in efforts to discover new information sources.
+ Develop a queue and establish a schedule to perform regular searches on items identified in the queue.
+ Perform ad-hoc research in efforts to identify new organizations, entities, topics, and other information of interest.
+ Create and maintain a system to document and track reports/resources for discovery by ONI analysts and attend bi-monthly meetings with Government lead to discuss.

Position Objective: Provide services as a Scientist in support of the overall functions of the Flow Cytommetry Core on the NIH Bethesda campus by supporting collaborative research in the intramural community of the NIH.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Method Development: Establish best practices in conducting complex multi-parameter flow cytometry experiments through experimentation and testing of different methods and protocols.
Evaluate and test fluorescent reagents available from commercial vendors and advise on their use.
Identify and implement new flow cytometry-related technologies to enhance VRC's capabilities in deep profiling immune cells.
Explore and be familiar with analytical tools available to conduct high-dimension data analysis.
Develop protocols for sorting infectious samples, ensuring compliance with international safety standards.
Training: Conduct routine basic and advanced training and educational efforts on flow cytometry methods and applications for researchers and collaborators, including safety and technical workshops for analyzers and cell sorters.
Train staff and users on new equipment and ensure new equipment performs up to the existing standards and tolerances.
Ensure that best practices in flow cytometry are implemented and educate FCC staff and VRC users accordingly.
Work with VRC PIs to develop flow cytometric protocols, data analysis, and data presentation to ensure the highest level of quality.
Operations: Support cell sorting projects with well-documented quality procedures and practices.
Engage in risk assessment program for all active cell sorting projects and advise researchers accordingly.
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and update procedural manuals and methods for the FCC cell sorting facility. Analyze laboratory testing reports and maintain detailed logs of all work-related activities.
Identify and address unexpected test discrepancies, recommending solutions. Interface with researchers, suppliers, reference labs, and equipment personnel to support operational needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or a related biomedical research field.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in flow cytometry and immunology.
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing cutting-edge flow cytometry techniques.
Experience in providing supervised and unsupervised single cell data analysis solutions for highparameter flow cytometry.
Experience in setting up immunophenotyping pipelines for high-dimensional flow cytometry.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in working within a core/shared resource facility preferred.
