Job Title: Permanent Pathologist Assistant Shift: Per Diem Job Summary: Under the supervision and direction of the Medical Director of the Laboratory and/or other licensed Pathologist, the Pathologists' Assistant (PA) prepares and performs the gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens. Job Responsibilities: Prepares tissue for pathological tests including frozen section diagnosis, cytology specimens, muscle biopsies, ACE specimens, and renal biopsies. Photographs gross and microscopic specimens and assists in preparation of educational conferences. Performs postmortem examinations ( Assist with gross description, dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissue for processing. Obtain biological specimens for analysis and perform special procedures. Education/Training - Bachelor's Degree from a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program; Master of Health Science from a NAACLS Pathologists' Assistant Program preferred Experience: Previous related experience including surgical pathology, autopsy dissection, histology procedures/techniques, gross dissection of surgical specimens, frozen sections and post-mortem examinations, preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently required. Licensure: NYS pathology assistant license required. AAPA fellowship or ASCP certification required.
