RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL: Assemblers must be able to perform a combination of production assembly tasks to ensure conformance to specifications and continuous production consistent with established standards. The Optical Assembly Technician is responsible for the precise assembly, alignment, and testing of optical components and systems. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to work with microscopes and fine tools in a lab environment. The technician will follow technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure product quality and performance standards are met. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Assemble optical components (lenses, mirrors, prisms, filters) into mechanical housings using specialized tools and adhesives. Perform precision alignment of optical assemblies using alignment fixtures and laser alignment systems. Inspect optical components for defects such as scratches, chips, and coating flaws using microscopes and interferometers. Handle and clean optics using industry-standard procedures (e.g., use of IPA, lint-free wipes, static control tools). Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and process instructions. Conduct performance tests on finished assemblies using optical testing equipment. Record test results and maintain accurate production and quality documentation. Monday-Friday with flexibility to mandatory overtime on Saturdays 1st shift - 5am-3:30pm - $19 2nd shift - 3:30pm-2am-$20 Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Assemble mattresses as outlined in established work instructions using a variety of pneumatic tools (e.g., c-ring hog-ring guns, staple guns, hot glue guns). This includes the assembly of Hot Melt Bond (HMB) units on the HMB machine; application of various, specified upholstered layers to HMB and open coil units; foam-encased pocketed coil units; application of specified upholstery layers; and final mattress assembly. Prepare and organize components for final assembly and restock raw materials at point of use. • Perform duties as outlined in established Job Safety Analysis and National Quality Standards and meet established hourly production goals. • Organize and/or stock raw materials in the work area, follow departmental housekeeping requirements, and leave the work environment and equipment clean at the end of shift. • Perform other duties as designated by a supervisor or manager. An Electrical Assembler is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and components. They work with various types of wiring, cables, and connectors to ensure proper functioning of electrical equipment and systems. Electrical Assemblers may read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints, and they often work closely with electricians and other technicians to complete projects. They must adhere to safety regulations and follow industry standards to ensure the integrity and reliability of electrical systems. Supervision: None Essential Responsibilities: Use hand tools (e.g. crimpers, strippers, torquing tools, calibrating tools, etc.) to perform tasks. Run and bundle wires according to Powell wiring standards. Layout, install, drill and tap devices onto doors and back pans. Install name plates and space heaters. Install and terminate CTs. Operate continuity buzzers. Terminate and run wire for MCC, SWGR, and harnesses according to wire diagram. Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings. Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized. Perform in process inspections Minimum Qualifications Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred. Ability to read and understand point-to-point wiring diagrams Ability to read and use a tape measure Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal. Safely use variety of hand/power tools. Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques. Preferred Qualifications Basic computer knowledge considered and asset. Working & Environmental Conditions Working Conditions Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required. Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding. Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment. Physical Requirements Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs. Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously. Continuous standing, walking 50-300-foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting. Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift. Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently. Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs. Frequent use of hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time.
