Quality Inspector II (2 nd shift) Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager (278) Summary: Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Job Functions: Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities, such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics. Records test data per inspection plans, applying statistical quality control procedures if appropriate. Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability. Maintains and reviews inspection data in SPC software. Analyzes capability and determines appropriate actions for deviant conditions. Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics per blueprint and/or customer specific requirements. Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into computer for SPC analysis. Performs in-process inspection and first-piece approval of parts utilizing OGP, Keyence, CMM, comparator and /or hand instruments, gages and fixtures. Set up and run CMM, Keyence and OGP programs on new launches, existing production, prototypes, tooling and other items as directed. Accurately interprets blueprints including all GD&T symbols and utilizes information when inspecting parts. Perform raw materials and outside services inspection including physical verification of dimensions and gages. Review of all specific documents, standards and clauses indicated on the purchase order. :Job Requirements Requires a High School diploma. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, email, and familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems. Be able to work overtime after the regular shift for additional inspection coverage if requested. Reading, writing and math skills at a high school level. Ability to interact with other team members to communicate product or program feedback, information and issues. Assist with processing of products returned to CAREL on return material authorizations. Generate inspection records, product statuses, and summarize data. Be fluent in computer software programs such as MS Word and Excel. Familiarity with industrial manufacturing processes, including wave soldering, surface mount applications and mechanical type assembly. Performs inspection on products (cables, circuit cards, assemblies, systems, etc.) manufactured for compliance to CAREL and customer drawings. Performs first piece inspections and audits as required. Verifies all required documentation. Works with other Quality associates in the disposition of non-conforming material and in identification of defect trends in manufacturing processes. Completes documentation of defects through data entry into company software platforms. Submits products to source and/or customer inspectors as required. Assists in keeping the quality department compliant to ISO9001. Reviews and reads drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to understand quality requirements of manufactured products. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS · High School education with 3 years technical experience working in a manufacturing environment. · Previous experience reading drawings, specifications and other technical documentation.
