Responsible for design, development and execution of new products.

Actively works with supply chain partners regarding material and part selection decisions, collaborative design work, and design solution development.
Provides effective technical support for external and internal customers.
Researches relevant industry trends and design and development methods for possible incorporation into PEM's best practices.
Actively supports a customer oriented problem solving culture that leverages traditional expertise in gearing and gearbox design while also embracing new challenges (e.g., motors, couplings, mounting fixtures, motors, innovative customized product testing, instrumentation).
Actively supports sales with qualifying leads, developing new opportunities, assigning engineering projects, and other activities.
Supports development of technical sales and marketing material using a variety of platforms, e.g., presentations, web content, and key points of interest for onsite tours.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering -Or-
An Associate's with 2+ years of experience in a highly technical field with strong mechanical aptitude. 5+ years relevant experience in mechanical engineering design preferred. Equivalent combination of aptitude, background, and experience may be considered.
Computer/System Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
Solidworks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD system.
The ability to learn PEM internal systems (e.g., Made2Manage ERP).
The ability to develop an understanding of ISO 9001:2015 requirements as they apply to PEM in general and Engineering in particular. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

This position will be responsible for mechanical design efforts related to new product development, existing product improvement, and sustaining engineering. Primary responsibilities will include designing OEM systems and components which will involve the generation of CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and creating BOM's and manufacturing instructions. Additionally, this role will require sourcing mechanical components, submitting RFQs to vendors, and general adherence to and improvement of engineering processes within the organization. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have a strong desire to learn new skills and be comfortable working on larger projects spanning weeks or months as well as fast turnaround projects requiring a couple of hours or days.

Preferred Experience
* Experience using a Product Data Management system such as Autodesk Vault or Solidworks PDM.
* Be able to interpret machine designs generated using 2-D CAD methods.
* Motivation to contribute to the improvement of engineering procedures.
* Experience working in or closely with machine shops is a plus (welding, milling, turning, sheet metal, etc).
* Strong knowledge and experience with 3D Cad software. Autodesk inventor (preferred), or other.
* BS. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
* 5-7 years experience
