Help us assist multiple types of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Contractors, and Developers), address their challenges, and implement future power grid systems. Gain experience in a wide range of power plant technologies, including biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, and hydro.
**Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:**
+ Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities
+ Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations
+ Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data. Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers.
+ Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines.
+ Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems.
+ Participate in the development of PFD's and P&ID's
+ Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design.
+ Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
**Required Education/Experience**
+ BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) degree from an accredited university
+ 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities
+ Professional Engineering registration in at least one US State
+ The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
**Desired Education/Experience**
+ Power plant design experience
+ Renewable natural gas plant design experience
+ Working knowledge of Microstation or Auto CAD
+ Working knowledge of Smart Plant 3D or CADworx

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program is required; Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
+ 10 or more years experience in the design of mechanical engineering systems for non-commercial, heavy industrial plants (power, oil & gas, or chemical), with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants, modifications, or replacements; Experience must include the selection of equipment, piping materials, control philosophy, and the preparation of performance sizing calculations and specifications.
+ Three or more years experience in leading an engineering design team through all phases of a project design.
+ Knowledge of gas turbines and procurement of gas turbines for both Industrial Frame (aka Heavy Duty) and Aeroderivative types for power generation is preferred.
+ Mechanical lead role for detailed design of simple cycle and/or combined cycle project(s) is preferred.
+ Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design.
+ Able to create design schematics, such as flow diagrams and P&IDs, using computer design software.
+ Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
+ Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.
+ PE license.

**Required Education/Experience**

+ Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of and experience with numerical models commonly applied to basin wide as well as nearshore environments, Particularly Delft3D. Ability to set-up, calibrate, validate, and troubleshoot numerical models.
+ Demonstrated experiences in developing pre and post processing scripts using Matlab (preferred), Python, Fortran, or other programming language.
+ Proficiency working within both Windows and Linux environments.

The role of a Project Engineer with our Water Team is a dynamic position well suited to an individual who is good at managing multiple tasks and deadlines and working with multi-disciplinary teams. The candidate may be working independently on smaller projects or providing support to a team of professionals on larger projects. Our group is involved in a wide range of sewer and water main of both large and small diameter systems including open cut construction, rehabilitation, trenchless, and tunneling projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
+ Typical projects or design tasks may include the design of sanitary, storm, and water main projects and overland flow / civil site plan design projects. Manages project technical tasks including completing design work, calculations, writing specifications and technical reports on a wide range of civil infrastructure projects generally involving sanitary & storm sewer and water main design, pump stations, stormwater management/drainage plans.
+ Coordinates design and report deliverable packages for submission to clients and/or approval authorities.
+ Coordinate with the Project Manager and attend meetings with the client, team members and sub-consultants.
+ Understands and implements industry standards and manuals as well as client and regulatory agencies standards and requirements.
+ Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
+ Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
+ Prepare engineering documents and contract documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules.
+ Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
+ Participate in basic cost estimating under the direction of technical leaders to support engineering projects.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
+ Involvement in regional industry professional associations.
+ All other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
+ Demonstrated efficient task management and technical execution of assigned tasks on multiple concurrent projects.
+ Broad, general understanding of many relevant areas of municipal engineering and site development design with respect to materials as well as industry standards.
+ General understanding of various construction means and methods and their disturbance impacts on the project site.
+ Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of design and construction codes.
+ Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
+ Proficient with of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
+ Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.
+ Must have good driving record, and valid driver's license.
+ Strong presentation and communication skills.
Education and Experience
+ Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
+ Experience: Minimum of seven years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
+ Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to successfully obtain within twelve (12) months.

Salary Range(s):
* $104,200 - $151,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL
* $104, 200 - $151,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA and DC
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
